This site is a frequent topic of conversation during many of my encounters, and in conversation with other providers, and I've found that not everyone says it the same way.

Some actually say, "The Erotic Review" but most I meet do not.

Personally, I say it as an acronym: T.E.R.

The most common pronunciation I hear rhymes with fur.

How about you?  How do you say it?

Does it rhyme with fur or cur?

Deer or leer?

Hare or mare?

Dearie or leery?

Wary or fairy?

So as to not be accused of straying off topic on a Fuck Board, I must need mention that this site is brought into conversation with those I have fucked, am about to fuck, or with other ladies who (like me) fuck for a living.  ;-P

I pronounce it as you do, T E R.

I've heard it pronounced as TER , as in Mobs-ter

I've also heard it pronounced as TER, as in tears of a clown.

Love the question, always wondered the same

Tear, as in rip (not cry)  or tare.

...as I find it avoids miscommunication. Pronouncing it as a synonym just leads to confusion "What did the say? Tur? Why is he talking about tears? Huh??"

otherwise we'd start to pronounce USA as oosa, and CIA as seea, etc.

Most like USA, CIA or TER make a lot more sense to simply say the letters.

I also think the more letters an acronym has, the more likely it is to be pronounced as a word like ACORN, FINRA or SPOTY, unless of course you can't make an actual word out of it like OTHFBC. lmao

The military makes one develop habits, if an acronym can be made into a word we'll find a way to pronounce it.  I say it like "tier" or "tear drop".  I thought everyone said it that way.

I have also heard it pronounced TURD, but without the "D", which is probably the most grammatically correct.

Please forgive my ignorance, but as soon as you brought the military into it, I thought that's where you were going! LOL.

Personally, I think Tango-Echo-Romeo adds a certain JamesBondesque panache, but I've probably watched far too many inaccurate spy movies. ;-)

... it is GREAT!  I have been a member since 2001... Old School, Old Timer... lol   This topic hits home more often than not.

As an "old timer" I am old school. It IS pronounced as the letters.... T, E, R, PERIOD!  As in in the letters T E R. I distinctly remember almost each and every time/person who called it tear, tare, tir, etc. The first few times a few "yirs" ago, I did't know what the person was speaking of when they actual said they found me on "tare". I was like, "I don't advertise on that site, it must be new!"

As time goes by, I have accepted other pronunciations and realize that in the grand scheme of life, how someone pronounces T.E.R. is trivial....my OCDs are a work in progress (Pro' gress not pro gress') :)

Always Sexy~

I say the letters, T.E.R.

It's come up with 2 providers I've had appointments with. One actually said the whole thing, The Erotic Review, the other just called it The T

And said T.E.R.

But one time I was talking to a fav and she said it like 'tear'. Whatever works, I guess....

But it's not the first time I'be seen it! This has come up more than once, and each time ai think how silly it is.

I pronounce it "TEE EE ARE". It's an acronym not a word. Why do people have to make it into a word? Like fishbro said, do we pronounce USA as "oosah?"

While I think it is silly to say TER as a word, it is even sillier to pronounce at as "tear." If it was a word, it would be TER as in "her" not like "here!" What would make the long E sound? If it was pronounced as "tere" it would be spelled tere, (or teer, or teir, or tear.) Can we get a ruling from Conan?

What you linked was "No Ma."  That's the answer you give your mother when she asks:  "Gaggy, will you ever get married again?"

At least, not in my opinion.  Given how frequently this board tends to have nothing but serious and/or negative topics for day and weeks at a time..... something a bit on the light-hearted side is likely welcome to many lurkers.  ;-)

As strange as it first seemed to me that anyone pronounces it as something other than an acronym, from my experience, it appears that you and I (and everyone who does so) are actually in the minority.    I can't explain why this interests me, it just does!

But now that you have judged this to be THE "silliest question" here, I feel challenged to come up with another topic to surpass this one in frivolity.   So stay tuned for that!   ;-P

and too funny, I did have that very conversation with my mother the other day, and yes I have ZERO intentions of ever getting married again, or at least not until I am older than my mother is now, which is 80

Or maybe it does and the only difference is when someone you like does it, it's 'silly" and when someone you don't like does it, it's "stupid" lol

I am pretty sure PS (and me) likes you, so "silly" it is.

I eagerly await your even sillier next OP. lol

For the record your last OP doesn't even qualify as "top 100" on the all time silliest list IMO. Not even close. So try harder next time.

"Tear" can rhyme with pear, or rhyme with peer.

"We all shed a tear for those fools who tried to stop Mikey from going on a tear"

Which one is it? lol

There is no hard and fast rule when to say it as a word (acronym) or pronounce the letters (initialism.)

FBI and CIA tend to be initialisms.  But NASA and LASER tend to be acronyms.

RAM  acronym
OPEC acronym
DVD initialism

etc
