I actually know better...

I think I'm just cranky and need a good 69!

I don't really shop there as much as I sometimes browse aimlessly if I'm bored. However sometimes I see something tasty and will do a TER check.

Sometimes you just go WTF!

I don't get it... When listing their contact phone number, the ladies on BP & CL so often:
 - put spaces between the numbers
 - use "Ohs" for zeroes
 - spell a number
etc...

Are they so dumb as to think this will stop the smart & determined researcher from checking their number? Guys that are inclined to check will, and those that aren't, won't.

And what about the dumbasses that call anyway and get ripped off (there being some notable exceptions such as BeefEater)?

Am I missing something???

they ALL think they are the exception to the Rule ;)

If you are fishing in that pond other than to get a good laugh, then you are going to get busted one day, plain and simple.

Back in the day before those boards were ruined they were good sources of biz and a lot of us started there.  It was a rule of CL's that you weren't allowed to post contact info in your ad.

I used to spell my number out in words or put spaces where there weren't supposed to be any to fool the programming rules and to allow my post to go through.  Example phone number would be:
eight 1 three 4 five 6 78 nine ten

scarlett kiss d  o  t  c  o m

et cetera.....

And some silly people think that junk makes their ad stand out above all the others.

....is if someone has a nosy "significant other" then it is easy for them to google a phone number and have hits on BP/CL/TER or personal ad pages come right up.  If a phone number is formatted "oddly" it does offer a degree of obfuscation in the google age.  This assumes the hobbyist is lazy and just using their own phone, the significant other has access to it or the bill, etc.

Something else worth mentioning to the ladies who put up their own websites is that it easy using most web publishing software to select an option usually called "publish text as image".  This takes your text and turns it into a jpg image so that web crawlers and search engines can't easily nab it.  It looks the same on your website, it is just a matter of how much you want to control the automation search crawlers from dissecting your site text.

I don't know if the rules are still the same since I haven't advertised on CL in years now, but when I started escorting, I started through CL, and you weren't allowed to include a phone number or web adress. Silly rule in my opinion, but those were the rules, and including a phone number would get your listing pulled.

So we had to be creative in figuring out how to include phone numbers and web addresses without setting off CL's monitors. So that is why phone numbers are spelled out like that. Its not to confuse YOU, but to get past CL's ridiculous rules :)

Webcrawlers pore through BP /CL ads and will grab phone numbers for spammers usage. Put your phone number in an ad, you may start receiving "sales calls."
