As Singleton stated, the Liberals are no slouches at Hypocrisy. And they love money as much as any Republican you'll ever meet. Thus for the sake of tourism they have to make this 'tough' stand against strip clubs. Furthermore, even though no women are forced to strip, the Liberals think that it's demeaning work for the women. If you want to back a party that truly believes that adults can do as they please as long as it's not hurting anyone, you need to become a Libertarian. And unfortunately right now the Libertarians have too many members who are only interested in drug legalization.

Finding a SO who backs your support of NORML is much easier than finding one who backs your support of the hobby.

Cyn, I am not trying to pick on you (although it may seem that way lately), but talk about no duh.
Compare the following scenarios:

"Honey, you want to fire up a few fatties and get high with me and fuck each others brains out and hear how awesome you are in bed when you are stoned and then share a pizza and fall asleep together watching some stupid movie that we are laughing our asses off at?"

"Honey, you mind if I spend $$$ to go fuck some other woman who is 20 years younger than you and will let me fuck her in the ass?"

Hmmm...I wonder which one she would prefer?

gcinia was referring to SF as a liberal city as in "socially liberal".  Admittedly, this usually goes hand in hand with politically liberal, but I don't think politics was the issue.  I think he was just surprised that even in a socially liberal bastion in this country, the sex industry carries enough of a stigma to offend people who NEED the money for charitable causes.

The best response to this is Shiro's post...amen.

I am also trying to figure out where Singleton implied that "Liberals are no slouches at Hypocrisy".  His link was to an article about large corporations (most of which are apolitical at best, conservative at worst...because it is all about the money) and how much they are willing to profit from the sex industry, and how hypocritical it is for the sex industry to be such a revenue genertor in this country when it isn't good enough to be a charitable donator.

However, I am only guessing at their motivations. This is just how I read it.

Only that maybe the adult industry should just take a "F**k'm" attitude if charities are too good to accept such "tainted" money.
Better we keep the money within the industry to spend on powerfull attorneys to protect against the "Holy'r-than-thou's" running the industry out of town.

If charities snub contributions from adult industries then I guess they don't need or want my money either. Fine!!  I'll just spend it on my ATF.

I like some Libertarian ideas. I like the way they defend enviromental rights. I like less federal government and more power to the states and local government. I like less drug laws and vice squads.
What I don't like about the party is their pro immigration. You guys lost a voter there. They are also pro free trade. I am against that also.
Tough to find a party to agree with. I tend to vote democrat at the federal level. Republican at the local level. Repubs at the federal level are hell on the environment. Anything for a buck.
I would like Pat Buchanan to start a 3rd party. Something that is pro America. With the mind frame of; is this good for the United States??That should be applied to every topic. Is this in the best interests of America. Not Israel, not the big business's that move jobs overseas. Not any other special interest groups. Also change the entertainment industry from the current filth and deception to more support and family orientated shows. Show mom and dad happy with their kids in their yard picking tomatoes. Not happy as they get further in debt in a new SUV. Or tell her you would do it all over again, buy her a diamond. Get further in debt. For crimany's sakes.
I could go on and on. But i will save you the agrivation of any more of my dreams.

with an older couple from Florida (an attorney and his wife who worked for teacher's union in Miami) about the Red Light district in the Sheraton Pulitzer restaurant.

During the conversation, the subject of the infamous Banana Bar (where female performers used their private parts to peel off banana) was brought up.  The waiters and staves of the restaurant volunteered to join in with the conversation without any hesitation while other guests enjoying their meal.

The downside of that kind of pseudo acceptance of sex is that not that many high quality escorts are readily available in that city :-(
