How would a newbie get "verified"?

I'm reeeaally new at this, here on TER and this hobby in general, so please bear with me.  There was a provider that I wanted to meet, but I could not pass her verification requirements.

Specifically, I would not give her my work number.  My business is a family business, and so I cannot divulge that information.  Furthermore, I do not have a home phone land-line.  I only have my cel-phone.

She suggested that I look into one of those verification web-site like "Room Service" (I think), but they all require a credit card, and I'm wary of that as well.

Is there any other way to appease the providers' needs for verification?  Or am I just to paranoid for this hobby?

You need to be cautious, but you're gonna have to give up some personal info, or you'll be destined to be a spectator.

Providers encounter guys reticent to divulge any sort of personal info every day. The providers understand these often justifiable concerns; but they have justifiable concerns of their own.

You can always go swimming over at Craigslist where screening is a rarity; but the waters are shark infested.

P.S. For the time; bring your freshman queries to the “FAQ for Newbies” board and PLEASE take advantage of the below link.

Re swimming over to Craigslist... I was suspicious of this one provider who was too good to be true.  THEN, I saw a short "review" talking about how good she was: Coed trying to pay her way through college, etc. Loves Greek, etc.  any comments?

Yes, I realized (too late) that I should have posted this in the newbie section.  Sorry.  Like I said, I'm really new at this.

As nervous as I am about giving out personal info, I'm even more so about "swimming with the sharks".

Today I was able to see a provider that I've had my eye on for some time.  She was great and the experience was amazing.  So I guess my original question is moot.

But thanks so much to all!!!

Even with the one reference many of us ladies will wish for your employment information and/or more than one reference (many times it is not possible to contact the first reference in a timely manner based on when you want to book).

As stated above when we verify employment we do not do so by saying anything like "hi I'm Bambi and I want to ______"

Keep in mind this is a business for us and we want to keep the good reputations we have worked so hard to build and a very large part of our reputations are based on us being able to be discrete including when we verify your information.

I honestly think that men are too paranoid at times but then again I don't think there is a single provider who is going to call anyone's work place and say, "Hi, I'm Barbie, bubba wants to set up a date with me and I just want to make sure he's not LE." Seriously. But who knows.
