recent developments in the Duke Lacrosse case, here's a quick summary.

The prosecutor, DA Michael Nifong, has been asked to recuse himself from the case by the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys. Disciplinary proceedings against him have been started by the North Carolina bar authorities, which may well lead to his disbarment. A federal investigation, which may lead to criminal charges against him, is a distinct possiblity.

The prosecutorial misconduct which has led to these charges and potential charges includes conspiring to conceal exculpatory evidence (specifically, DNA evidence of multiple males found on the so-called victim, NONE of which matched any of the defendants), and staging a rigged lineup in which ALL participants were Duke Lacrose players.

This case was a total sham, staged by Nifong to ensure his re-election as DA, and latched onto by various national players of the race card. Nifong will be lucky if he manages to get away with just being disbarred and escapes jail himself.

Like I said ... not funny.

Yes, I have been paying attention to the case. This case is a cautionary tale on a hundred different levels. Poor Nifong appears to be the reluctant scapegoat when its all said and sifted. I feel bad for him.

All that aside though, it was a joke. Lighten up.

My one question is...............

WHAT?

You need to lighten up!  While all things in Durham (which is truly the armpit of the South) stink, the least of which is their history of legal fuck-ups and racial tensions, let us not forget that the Duke Lacrosse team did hire a couple of ESCORTS (not strippers) from one of the least reputable agencies around (think, 1 notch above SW).  The escorts were also told by the Dukie Laxers that they would be "entertaining" a small batchelor party for no more than 6 or 7 guys when they were booked.  So while everyone in this case is LYING ABOUT SOMETHING, please do remember that the Dukies are "not innocent" and this joke is perfectly tasteful!

Thanks only. I was reading about this today on espn.com and was looking for a place to post my thoughts. I agree with you 100%. This was about a da  looking to make a name for himself  AND THE RACE CARD, I don't give a shit if I get flamed for this but this would never have gone this far if there had been black defendants and white victim.  this is just reverse discrimination which is very prevalent today.
