Due to alcohol induced dyslexia I often find a need to edit my post.  Sometimes an "edit" prompt appears that allows me to do so....sometimes not.  What's up with that?  Pretty sure I'm doing something wrong but can't figure out what.

Sometimes I need to correct spelling....a web address or simply modify a nonsensical statement. Sometimes it's something I catch immediately.....sometimes it's the next morning during the fog of a hangover.

First of all, if you are using an alias, you can't edit...PERIOD. You never have been able to in the past either - to my knowledge.

If you are using your real handle, you can edit a post upon posting it immediately almost all the time. I believe there is someone behind the scenes (TER employee) who approves/disapproves our posts, and if you can't edit it at some point after posting it (usually a few hours), it could be because it got approved by TER.  Even though you are not moderated, TER still reviews all the posts you and I make..

If someone has ACTUAL info, I would love to hear as well, as I am also curious about the same...

May be some EX-MODS can chime in... See..I was able to edit that one..

Curly is correct except for the part that someone at TER "approves" all of our posts. I don't think they read anything unless someone reports a post. Besides that, they might pop in and spot check a biard occasionally, and maybe read moderated members posts before approval (but even that's questionable since so many posts end up on the wrong board)

You can't edit an alias post, and you can only edit a post by your username for a limited amount of time. (usually a couple hours)

I never post as an alias.....but perhaps it is the post that I don't get back to for a few hours or next day that don't have the edit feature.  I'll observe what happens with this one.
