How Long to Wait for a Provider?

In college, there were alledged rules on how long you had to wait for the professor based on status.  Assistant Professor's = 10 minutes, Associate= 20, Professor = 30.

How long for a provider if she's not answering the phone or giving you a heads up?  I say 30 minutes past appointment time (equivalent to Full Professor).

Being stood up (by provider or hobbyist) really burns.

If you don't hear from a provider within 20 minutes after the appointment is scheduled, forget it! She is not coming.

(If I am running behind, the latest time I call them is at the scheduled time.)

When you make the date, politely ask the provider to call if there is any delay, and ask her how long you should wait if there is no word from her.  Then you have an upfront agreement.  You'd be surprised how well this works to get them to be ontime or contact you.  It also gives them the idea that you are serious.

We did 15 minutes.  Period.  TA or Prof.  Not there in 16 minutes, then neither were we.  :-)
