I don't see how they could distinguish or even that there is any reason to. A member is a member is a member. You can't post on TER without joining the site.  I guess it depends on how you define the word "troll".  It's a message board and, to some degree, you have to take the good with the bad.

they wait till they open their mouth, which is the most accurate way of detecting assholes, idiots,...etc. Then they'll deal with them depending on the severity of the case.
