How did they know????? ......

I always light a few candles in my incall room but this time I was greeted at my door by hotel staff asking me to blow the candles out. They were concerned that I would set the smoke detectors off. This was incredibly odd for me since I've stayed at this hotel probably 20-30 times with no candle problems.

My question is, was it the fact the candles were scented this time around or that I had the air conditioning on high which caused this....or was it something else? I've been uncomfortable lighting candles ever since

They are getting more and more strict especially the high end hotels. Get the battery operated scented candles...done deal. They illuminate and give off a scent without the mess.

I have had this happen a few times, and prefer not to be greeted by hotel staff unless their bring me a bottle.

They have candles that are battery operated now, so there is no alarm for smoke detectors you may want to explore that option.

Not everyone likes scented candles and the next guest should not have to endure it, nor should the hotel staff have to fumigate the room after you depart. Besides, it's a nice way to flag yourself as a hooker to the staff. It's a pretty dumb action if you ask me.

How did the hotel staff even know you have angles in your room? ....... That's weird... But ya, candles aren't allowed in hotel rooms...

Or in simple terms every time the door is opened air/scent escapes. Go ahead and try it at home and send the scientific results to the turkey.

numerous times & without incident...  but too much scent is very bad...  like perfume likely to linger on the clothes of your guests.  One lady with a frilly fantasy room had a lace curtain catch fire.  I don't want to hit the fire escape naked & neither do you!  Candle light is flattering but a little goes a long way & always be safe.
Clients are even concerned about soap odors...  don't add to it.

Ouch. I don't even use the same chain much less the same hotel. It's scary out there.

Just drape them across the headboard.  They make a very romantic scene.

I allow hotwire to choose my fate with it's hidden hotel feature. Hotels charge so much for every stupid fee that I don't book direct. Just for parking for 2 days it costs 75 dollars. That's insane. I plan on getting an incall apartment at some point but too many bills right now.

So if you don't want me playing with fire..
Don't light candles.
I'll try to make hot air balloons out of your condoms.

They probably smelled them.
BTW.
But just because the smoke dector doesn't make noise.
It does not mean it did not go off

You may not recall this, but that's why your mom turned you out of the house at age 12.  It was bad enough when you burned your toys, then ignited various table cloths and curtains.  She had a large-capacity fire extinguisher at that point.  But when you set fire to the family dog, well, that was it.
Please promise to seek help or she won't let you in the house for Thanksgiving.
