..the subject was "the Hobbyist". The content was various gifts for the hobbyist. Sadly it was stuff like coins, cameras, model ships. No gift certificates for a 60 minute romp with the lady of my choice.

However!!... I know where you're coming from because whenever I see ads for "companion" or such, I think of the hobby!!

Aaaaahhhh. This is so much fun!!

When Amazon starts helping to make outcalls more efficient with drones then I'm definitely getting Amazon prime!

Still don't use the term myself. Doesn't make a lick of sense.

but I don't much care for it and I NEVER call myself a hobbyist. I liken it to hookers calling themselves courtesans because they are embarrassed to self identify as a hooker. Call me a john, a trick, or preferably a whore mongering pig and I am just fine with it. I have ZERO shame about seeing hookers, unlike the guys who insist on more PC labels.

Feel free to use the term or not. Many such as GaGambler hate the term hobbyist, but to say it doesn't make a lick of sense, well, doesn't make a lick of sense!

Definitions:
Hobby: noun
An activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
Hobbyist: noun
A person who pursues a particular hobby.

How does that not pertain to this? I am certainly a hobbyist by these definitions.

Also, this term did not originate with TER. There are many other sites like this that actually have "hobby" in their name, and the term was used in the early days of the internet in yahoo chat groups and things like that, before TER came to be.

Not 100% why GaG has an issue with it but that's his deal.

Hobbyist, john, trick, Jack, stud, asshole, dick, etc.

Who gives a fk and why?

I don't get it at all.

I like these because they make me laugh. I really don't care what word a...client...calls me as long as it's said with affection or at least benevolent neutrality. Except please don't call me a courtesan, it bugs.

I simply hate political correctness. Besides, if I started calling myself a hobbyist, the women would have a right to object to my constant use of the word hooker.

...in fact I just had to dress DebbieDownerGirl down for her ridic PC bloviating about the photo board. LOL

But I just don't get worked up over what someone calls me.

Like you say, I cant refer to the girls as hookers or whores or whatever, if I am going to get pissy about "hobbyist" or "trick" or "douchebag." It goes with the territory.

Thanks for clarifying though.

A Hobby is something like gardening, sports, knitting, painting toy soldiers, model trains...something you do in your free time.
I don't run to see a provider whenever i have a free minute.

Many encounters take time to plan, can be canceled or delayed,  or subject to whatever city you happen to be visiting at the time.
Not always something you can engage in on the spot.

I mean,  I'm not really going to argue semantics, i just think it's a weird euphemism.

If i were to tell someone about it,  i wouldn't say i see prostitutes or hookers, simply because in most minds it's a negative connection and brings thoughts of street walkers.

But shit, some of the fellas here see so many ladies i guess for them it really would fall under the Hobby category!

If you were to ask me what my hobbies are, I would most likely respond, "Drinking, gambling, playing golf and fucking hookers" So it's not really so far fetched after all. I don't dislike the term because it's inaccurate, because it's not, I simply don't like it because it's PC and I HATE PC.
