I just figured a girl came up with the term originally, as she didn't want to be called a "hooker" or "prostitute" so she came up with the PC "provider"and deemed the tricks as "hobbyists."
I never got my pants in a bunch worried about semantical differences so tell me what the word means.

It's a way that people who are ashamed of what they do to make it easier for them to admit to it. I am most definitely NOT a "hobbyist" I much prefer the much more accurate descriptor "Whore Mongering Pig" I will of course answer to trick or john as well.

I just assumed “Hobbyist” originated from TER. I think LE views the term and the men who identify with it as repeat offenders who are trying to legitimize their unlawful conduct. Which I think is probably a valid point. I think they try to paint it with some predatory undertones as well. I myself have referred to it at times when talking to the ladies because it just sounds more polite than monger or john and less businesslike than client. Its all about the fantasy.
We're a problem because we're smart, and we're careful, so we keep the industry alive while LEO's are stuck mopping up idiot casuals in hotel stings so they have some names to put in the paper and justify their miserable existence.
The fact is, they lack the knowhow, and the patience, and probably the willpower, to catch most of us, and we're the ones who're consistently seeing these girls, keeping their bills paid, and generally being good customers so they can keep providing their services to the world.
