I am not sure what the thrill is watching a woman online and you cannot even see her face to face.  I know some women meet up eventually with the guys that watch them.  However, I think that is probably pretty rare.  Well I guess if you are sort of an awkward looking guy it is a way to see a hot chick take her clothes off and she may not even be able to see you.

Web cam entertainment continues on because there is interest and demand for it. Just like there is continued interest for say, phone sex, or pornography. People rarely get the chance to meet their favorite porn stars either, yet porn won't be fizzling out any time soon. I think one of the draws is that it is kind of like live porn, where a camming client can "direct" a model in real time during a show. Or custom order photo sets and videos that are specifically tailored to the client's interests.

Also, FYI, I've had some rather babely camming clients. (Some clients prefer cam to cam, where both parties get to see each other.) And I've also gotten to try some really fun and kinky activities that I hadn't tried before.

I don't see much in it myself, but to each their own.

Webcam fills that niche

Most guys go to strip clubs to get up close and personal with a stripper. They want a private dance. There s a very limited set of men who visit strip clubs to solely watch the stage shows. Furthermore, men who patronize strippers feel it isn't cheating. So most don't want to go all the way with them (IRL, but in their minds they do: they'll wank for days or weeks, even months over a stripper).

A lot of them get all worked up at the club and fantasize about that hot stripper while having sex with their old fat wife. If it weren't for strip clubs some wives would never get any action from their husbands.

I do agree that web cams are going to dent the business of strip clubs, and that they are two very different markets. Web cam girls are more for the guy who loves porn more than strip clubs. Naturally there is a lot of crossover here, but I pretty much agree with your assessment.

As a die hard strip club hound, I can tell you that many of us ladies (yes LADIES) and gents who inhabit the dark musty stripclubs of the world are most definitely looking for extras. It's part of the fun and definitely part of the hunt.

But, "many" is far from "most", so I still stand by my assessment: most men who go to strip clubs aren't looking for more than a cop-a-feel at most.

"Extras" and full-on-fucking are not the same... but still, the percentage of those who go to strip clubs and actually engage in some form of sex (in this case defined as oral or vaginal- not fingers) on premises is pretty low. It happens, for sure, and I think one must take into account regional and other differences: i.e., a LOT more happens in some clubs in Tampa than, say, most clubs in London- but then again, that depends on which clubs in Tampa, and which clubs in London. The type of club will also play a huge part in what happens there (who goes to which clubs looking for what to happen), i.e., those who visit the Green Door in SF will be more likely to expect sex than those who go to the Gold Club in SF. And, of course, where you play in the club is also telling: VIP rooms will typically see more action than the main areas, but again, the majority of people in strip clubs don't go to the VIP areas. And in my experience, female customers were usually much bolder about trying for extras than male customers- in any country! But they were also always a minority of visitors.

While the two of you might disagree here, I think you are both agreeing that Lana is wrong.

Personally I think that lopaw is right. Many if not most of the strip club patrons are wanting to get as up close and personal as absolutely possible, how close and personal they actually get is only limited to their wallet and the amount of game they have.

I was a stripper for over 15 years around the world- something like 45 cities and 56 clubs, and that was not my experience. Indeed, as lopaw said, *many* people were out for as much as they could get (and they were the ones we made the most money off of), but by no means most. Most were there to get teased and maybe bend the rules a bit. It's a "safe" alternative to cheating- meaning that men go knowing they probably can't go too far.

Also, men are like dogs in that it is highly unlikely that if you present them with the opportunity for sex they will turn it down. They'll take as much as they can get. But I don't believe most go to strip clubs looking for sex. Their motivation is titillation. There are much more efficient and guaranteed ways of getting sex.  

But you guys may be right. I will say that things may have changed significantly since I stopped dancing in about '04.

In this country there is a huge difference between what is accepted in lets say Tampa Florida where almost anything goes, or Texas or even Atlanta which are also pretty open to some other places where even touching is forbidden.

Now if you are talking other countries, in some countries strip clubs are nothing but very thinly veiled brothels, lopaw REALLY needs to go to Latin America with me sometime. In those places, guys are rarely there for titillation, they are there to get laid. I can think of a dozen different countries that I have been to where this is most definitely the case. It's ruined me for American Strip clubs. I only go to strip clubs with a bunch of people to party, or if I happen to be dating a dancer or cocktail waitress which I do from time to time.

Yeah- I mentioned above that location is definitely important in this discussion, as well as the type of club. One of the examples I gave was the Gold Club in SF vs. the Green Door in SF. They actually have condoms backstage at the Green Door, where the Gold Club has a nanny cam in the "Red Room".

In Tel Aviv, you dance with someone just to make a deal, and then go upstairs to have the real fun. In Thailand, you do the same thing, but typically have the real fun back at your hotel. Japan has different types of clubs ranging from hostess clubs (where you do not have any more physical contact than dancing or holding hands, and sex with your customers ensures they don't return) to bath houses, which are basically brothels with baths. I danced at several clubs in Japan, and they were pretty strict, but you could pay off the bouncer. You can pay off bouncers in many clubs around the world, but I never went there because I hated doing too much in a strip club. If they wanted the full gear, they needed to take me to a hotel and it was going to cost them a hell of a lot more money than they might pay in a club. I never left a strip club for less than 1K. Just wasn't worth it to me.  

There's also this weird thing with relationships in clubs: management play favorites and will censure those who are not favorites for their naughtier dances, while turning a blind eye to naughtiness by their faves. I've experienced both sides of that. lol!!

I'll admit that I used to get off with good grinding in the VIP area when I went to see male dancers, but I wouldn't have wanted to engage in anything more than that there. I'd have happily taken them back to my hotel for the full monty, but was too busy having fun with my girlfriends.

In 2004 is when I began serious clubbing and the changes in lapdancing from then until now is literally day and night. Patrons (NOT just men dammit) are now looking for and receiving way more than just a "tease". Yes it depends where you club but today's patrons expect more and are easily getting it. Gone are the olden days of table dancing and no contact,at least in most major cities. Where I club in the COI and at infamous clubs like Tropical Lei, getting laid is almost a given. And those clubs are PACKED with patrons day & night, unlike some other lesser contact clubs....so that tells you alot about what people are really looking for when they hit a club.

Lol! I worked at Tropical Lei! It was pretty naughty back then, too- quite a reputation. Most common then was oral sex (performed on the dancers), though. Getting laid was still pretty scandalous at that time. Yeah- not for me. I'd rather do this. Way more money and control over the situation and the people I meet. And at least a perception, for me, of a lot less chance of contracting something from someone else. I used to watch guys get dance after dance where they'd perform cunnilingus on each dancer. No thanks!  

And I know that women were a growing demographic starting in about 1999/2000. But some clubs wouldn't let women in without men. Is that still the case, or no longer?  

Even after I retired, I was a patron at the clubs. They still ranged from strict to naughty, but all of them were packed where I was. The clubs I have been to lately are all here in the Bay Area. Some are strict, some are scandalous. All are busy here, too, though. The ones that are not so busy tend to be the more low-budget ones.
