Did'ya think great hockey is played in North Carolina? I knew I could count on Carolina to finish ... THE Oilers. Carolina wins the cup! Carolina is not just known for the Duke Blue Devils. Now we also own the Stanley Cup! What an exciting finish!
Yeah I'm glad to get the Dukies out of the headlines for at least a day. I mean collosal chokes in men's and women's basketball, lacrosse gang rape and DWI's, it was getting old having such a low-class institution smudge the reputation of the great state of North Carolina. I'm glad the Canes won the cup. We needed something positive just in case the UNC Tar Heels don't win the College World Series in baseball.
The last two cups (with one unfortunate year away) belong to Tampa Bay and Carolina. Who would have ever thought that the South would become a hockey hotbed?
I hear where you are coming from in terms of the good of the sport. I'm a big fan of the 'Original Six' (Let's go Rangers!) and I'm way into tradition. However this fantastic sport needs exposure wherever it can find it and from that angle I think it's great that non-tranditional cities and franchises are in the loop. Congrats to the Canes on a great season.
exposure to increase, would be to get it off Outdoor Life Network. Do young fans even know where to tune in to see hockey?
I live in OC, so I can relate to the 'new' hockey phenomenon with the Mighty Ducks. Just gotta love the tradition of the Redwings, Rangers, Canadiens, Oilers, etc.
