Here's my prediction............confused_smile

....Hobbyist's will continue to attact and criticize a provider's rates if they are high. Obviously the rates aren't too high for everyone, as someone must be paying what they're asking.

If her rates are too high, guess what? You have the option to find someone that you can afford. No really. It's true!!! You really can!!!

You don't walk into a Rolls dealership on a Ford Pinto budget and tell them their prices are too high. Or maybe you do. Shrug.

As far as the economy affecting pornstar rates...who knows. There will never be a shortage of the need for porn as well as the desire for some pornstar lovin. I'm sure they'll be just fine.

My prediction for 2009 is that, due to the horrible state of the porn industry (check Larry Flint begging Congress for a bailout), pornstars will increasingly become providers and their rates will come much closer to regular provider's rates (average $300/hour).
I recently was attacked on the Porn Stars board when I joined a hobbyist criticizing a Pornstar's astronomic rate as being out of touch with current reality. Although I recognize that that board was the wrong place to express my idea, I still agree with the criticism.

As with the rest of the economy, I don't think those at either end of the spectrum, ie the very top and the very bottom are going to notice much of a difference. Those is the middle I believe, just like the middle class are going to bear the brunt of it.

Let's face it. A $75 hr CL lady really can't reduce her already low rates by much, and there will always be some rich guy patronizing the "porn star elite". That leaves the $250-$500hr provider to feel the pinch on the middle class guys that are their bread and butter.

I know there will always be cheap ass losers complaining about what they can't have. I just hope the trend doesn't increase due to the slowdown of the economy in general. If it does there will still be those that thrive and those that don't. There always have been and there always will.

Sorry, I was going to reply to your comment and got distracted by other posts.
I completely agree with you. I think in times of recession businesses that are in the middle suffer the most. The extremes tend to stay intact for the most part.

I wasn't trying to attack provider's rates. They should charge as much as they want and people will or will not pay for the services. That's called free market.
I was trying to make a prediction based on the current state of the porn industry. That's what we call "intelectual masturbation". Since I had nothing better to do at that time and it's free, that's what I did.

. . . to service yourself with porn than hiring a provider. In the current state of the economy, porn is a better deal.

As for Larry Flint et al asking for a bail out, they are not serious. They are trying to make a point.

I have to disagree about Larry Flint.
I'm not sure if you read his statement, but the point he was making is that the Porn Industry employs thousands of people and therefore a bailout would be as justifiable as one for the financial or auto industries.
I'm not saying I completely agree or that it doesn't sound ridiculous from the outside (a porn editor asking Congress for money), but I think he was being serious.

not agree with him on much, on this I have to say, he makes sense - what we are seeing is the money goint to the auto and financial idustries going totally to waste... car makers are NOT responding to the demand they clean house, and the financial institutions likewise seem to now reward failure and failed business practices...

Flint was actually making a pretty good point - or that is how it is positioned.

The economy is not what's hurting poor old Larry and the porn business, the Internet is.

The Internet is doing the same thing to Home Porn DVDs and Videos as what VHS tape did to the Porn Theaters.

true, but the consequences are the same, the porn industry business is down.

all in the secrecy of your little home... heck, go on Youporn or other porn sites... look at tommysbookmarks... or heck even look at the commercials on godaddy.com... all for free...

so?  what is there to do?  we will probably not have a major star rise like jenna j rise again... simply because there are no common outlets - everyone is posting on the web... EVERYONE....

I suspect that much as the music industry has struggled to get a grip on distribution, movie (both legit and porn) will have to as well... but it will not happen overnight and in the interim - production values will fall and the quality will go right out the window... for a while.

next thing? will be realistic immersion movies... you wait - it is coming... now If I could just get to that edit button....

"Reality" doesn't really enter into it when it comes to paying for sex, porn star or not. P4P sex is a luxury item, not a necessity.  Some guys will always think that the price of something they can't afford should be lowered so that they can have it anyway.

As long as some men keep trying to tell women how much they should be charging for sex then we will have charming little threads like this that always end the same way...in a train wreck.  Thanks Kenny for being the impetus for all the fun and frolic that I'm sure your post will generate.

Again, I think people have their preconceived ideas and don't actually read what's written, so they criticize what's in their heads and not what's in the post.
My point is not about what providers should charge for their services. I couldn't care less. I have my ATF's and they are in my price range. If you want to pay $1,000,000 to have a Ginger Ale with Seka, God bless you (I'm sure Seka wouldn't mind).
All I did was a prediction based on economic factors. You might agree or not with it.
It's like me predicting that the price of meat will fall because the number of vegetarians is increasing and you accusing me of being a cow hater(BTW, I love cows, medium rare)

and the years had not been kind to her.... really sad, as she was truly a pioneer of sorts... the beauty next door - who happened to do porn...  a classic beauty.

You can't make valid economic statements about the escort world. The information flow is too imperfect. It doesn't operate like a market.

So the ladies who get pissed off are not only offended, they are right. They know that there are so many irregularities in the "market" for elite escorts that they might thrive at a given rate regardless of larger market forces.

It just don't work that way.

That's what I call a valid point.
And I have no problem accepting the flaws of my prediction, but I don't understand why would anyone be offended by it.
If you say that prices of contractors are likely to fall give the economic pressures felt by homeowners, you're not going to get letters from angry contractors.

Because rate discussion/criticism is a reoccurring question on the board, about a month ago I posted an inquiry - “The Eternal Rate Question” - as to whether respectful rate commentary/criticism was a proper subject for discussion on the boards, and my view that it was:

A lady posts an advertisement with her rates. A guy makes a post commenting on the rates as being too high. Subsequent posters jump on the guy for complaining about the rates.

My view is that respectful rate posts are not improper. Here is why – there is a difference between an ad mall and a discussion board. When a lady places an advertisement on a discussion board, she invites discussion on everything in her ad. If she wishes to advertise without comment, she can use an ad mall.

All of the providers who responded said it was not a proper subject for discussion. The overwhelming majority of male responders likewise took a dim view of rate discussions.
No one bought into my ad mall/discussion board distinction.

So while you have made a perfectly respectful and sensible comment about rates dropping for one particular group, the message I got from my survey is that the great majority of posters perceive any rate commentary as an implied attempt to persuade the ladies to lower their rates, and feel that this is undesireable. The greatly preferred view is “don’t ask, don’t tell, just move on.”

Thank you very much for understanding where I was coming from.
I would I ever think that talking about rates would make providers lower their rates?
If you are a provider and you charge X and you have a full schedule, why would you lower your rates?
It's stupid.
But some people get offended by any post that relates to rates.

My reading comprehension skills are just fine. I read what you wrote and I responded to it with my thoughts on what you wrote.  I don't read minds, just the words on the page.

I'm not looking to book with any porn stars either so I could care less what they charge. That being said, your "prediction" that they will have to drop their rates due to the recession is no different than the dozens of posts that have popped up in the last few months by men suggesting that any and all escorts need to get a grip on reality and lower their prices. Sorry but it's all the same BS to me.

Why, by the way, didn't you put this over on the porn star board?

I thought this was the appropriate forum.

I'm sorry that that's what you inferred from my post.
It wasn't meant as a bashing of providers rates.
Let me clarify once again my position:
I believe providers (pornstars or not) should charge as much as they want for their services and men will or will not pay for it.
The only thing that pisses me off is in cases like Spitzer's. Politicians paying exorbitant fees with public money. In that case, I feel I'm entitled to a few minutes of the providers time :)

It was found by the NY AG office that Spitzer did not use any public money but he is an example of a spoiled rich kid who never had to really work for anything and BTW married money also.

think that what women think sex is worth is limited to escorts!???  Seriously, men always pay for sex - it is just that simple.  interesting discourse on who sets the price.  To be honest, I find that most women in the escort business are very realistic about what they want, and what they will (or won't do) to get it.

I am NOT saying that civies are dishonest, but maybe not honest with themselves.  Fortunately the ex ms. superdude is not actually that bad, but I have seen very harsh treatment of men in the divorce court system.

That's a whole other issue.
I never understood why society condemns a woman that charges for sex but totally accepts a bimbo that marries a man 3 times her age(and butt ugly) just because of money.

I know a couple of them in my city.

it hits a littler close to home with some of us.  lol

In fact except for the money part....

I'm one of them :)
But it just looks funny when you see an ugly old man walking with a stunning woman that's less than half of his age. I know there are lots of exceptions, but I wonder what's the attraction :)

i know, I was sitting in a coffee shop with my beautiful lady friend, 4 women my age (mid 50s) were talking about us.  They were wondering if we were married, if so to each other. They thought we looked to happy, it was very funny. I guess we did not look to mismatched.

Because women are more successful and are  independent, I see older women dating younger guys - clearly for the a different reason, the sex.  Let face I can't fuck like I did when I was in my twenties and my Doc won't give me the blue pill yet....so they get a younger guy, take him shopping and he can go all night.
My 40 plus sister in law has a 25 year old BF, she an attorney and you know its "other" women who turn up their nose at them

A thought, how many mature providers see younger guys for the "real" sex?

It's true, but a lot of these behavior is the same for men and women. You have male and female bimbos. The question is: how different from sex for money is this?

I really do not think so. Since most providers do not have overhead , they could adjust their lifestyle like we do.  For example, I am skipping a mini vacation to Vegas. A provider rather than touring, will stay at home base or get rid of an assistant or answering service.
As far as porn studio goes, they can go back to the basics, like straight sex with horrible sountrax ala the 70's 80's. Stopping renting expensive homes for shoots and instead go back to Motel 6 with the same bedspreads.  I sure harcore porn lovers will buy without the fancy production.
I am only speaking about providers lifestyle based on conversations with them, so if I am offbase, please correct me
