Especially the independent escorts...I am tired of hearing about us poor girls who have to turn to this line of work.  If I had it my way, and things were legal, I would like to say I am proud of what I do and who I am.  This has been a wonderful adventure and growing experience for myself, that I wish others outside of the hobby could understand that it's not all horrible like the movies.
Girls who feel low about this, don't look at it as a last resort effort, but hold your head high and use this as an opportunity to grow and become something better.
And guys, most of you understand us and treat us with respect, but the others of you out there who view us as objects to use and not as people, and you know who you are, I say, give us some slack and give us a little R E S P E C T (aretha singin' away!)

many of you don't. Unfortunately, IMHO, there seems to be a higher rate of rip offs, flakes, druggies, etc. in your line of work than in other professions. Just an observation from a guy who has met a lot of great ladies, but also a lot of bad ladies, while hobbying.

What a great link! Thanks for sharing, Anais! I am also very proud of who I am, indifferent to popular public opinion. Key word being "opinion".

Government (as Nicole states) IS a big business and we, unfortunately, have become an easy target. Why people "choose" to put other people down is beyond me. Bummer. And, on so many occasions throughout history, we have learned how distructive stereotypes can be. Ah, well. The lesson will keep presenting itself.....

Wasn't there a moment in time (albeit quietly) when this profession was celebrated? What happened?

Thanks again.

That's the rubber (so to speak) hitting the road.

hmmm...great thread.

I always say, "I'm not proud of what I'm doing, BUT I'M NOT ASHAMED OF IT EITHER"! :0)

No one made me do this, this was my choice. No drugs, alcohol or hard luck stories here. I'm educated and could be working in another profession if I chose to.

My reason is simple: I'm a nympho and this biz suits me perfectly. (the $'s not bad either) My latest joke is that I've been exposed to the FLESH EATING VIRUS which causes me to lovingly chomp on delicious "man flesh" every chance I get! LOL! :0)

I love this industry and I too wish this industry was legal, but alas the many complications that go along with legalization :0(
Until the powers that be come to their senses and make this biz legal, EVERYONE BE CAREFUL AND PLAY SAFE!

Whenever you venture to a population group "on the edge" you are going to find more extreme examples of humanity... the fringes of the bell curve, you might say.

Providers, working in a world that is frankly a bit beyond the edge, are going to be a collection of extremes ranging from self-actualized genius-types to erratic ("flaky") sensual artistes (the majority, in my experience) to junkies and dangerous lunatics and common criminals.

If you reflect on experience, you will probably realize that you haven't met very many "average" providers; the experiences tend to be either fantastic or awful, with few gradations in between. If you dive in rough waters, prepare to be alternately elevated and drowned...

Personally I think this profession is MUCH more honorable than some.  You'all are doing something that challenges your mind as well as your spirit... and many do it with honesty, sincerity, and caring.

Maybe we should resolve the legality and morality issues by simply stranding the politicians, religious zealots, and dishonest providers on some desert island somewhere.  It might not accomplish much but the rest of us might find it entertaining! :)

Anais_nin [clever name , BTW!]

Wouldn't this job complicate your life if and when you fall in love with someone?  Would any normal man be comfortable with the love of his life being with others?

Somehow, I can imagine all other aspects of this job be manageable, except this part.

Having said that, I think the whole thing should be complete legalized, and I don't agree with the premise that the risk factor will drop the prices.  Look at Europe and Nevada.

that although it is legal there, it is still controlled by organized crime.

The form that legalization would take would be interesting.  Would the public, because of their sex-negative attitudes, require that the women all be confined to a small geographical area?  Or would they allow independents to operate as they do now, with the only requirements being regular health checks?

The present sexual slavery practices involving third world women would probably be dramatically reduced or eliminated, which would be a good thing.  LE could focus entirely on that.

Rates would go down, but not much for high end women if they were allowed to operate as independents in their present high end physical settings.

Not only would prices likely drop, but there would be taxed to pay as well.  And I suspect outcall would go way down if legal incall existed.  That would increase some overhead and reduce some.

No doubt that rates for high end girls will always command a premium. But if it were legal I doubt much you'd see the price go down. I just spent a few days in Amsterdam where most vices are legal. Whether you smoked it or poked it, the price was still up there.

to some degree, by close minded people that do not fathom anything about this endeavor.  Because of it, we are stereotyped and forced into keeping this private from those that are around us in everyday life.  It is taxing and quite frustrating, for we cannot say what we do and/or even admit, except here, that we are proud of what we do.

Despite that, I agree with you 100% and pooh on those that think differently.

Great post!

But I already pay taxes on what I make moonlighting here :)
And making 1/2 of what I make now, would still be pretty good money considering that I wouldn't have to turn down clients who don't match up to my verification/reference process cause it all would be legal and out in the open~

It sort of begs the question, what would be a fair price for escort services? In most countries, it's a $40K a year job. It actually is on average a $40-$50K/yr job here too, but most providers one communicates with here make more, or at least represent that they do.

In Los Angeles and elsewhere, prices have dropped from $300-$350 to $180-$250 on average. I think at least here, it's more a reflection of the state of the economy (which currently sucks, but is still much stronger than other nations by comparison).

One thing that might happen with legal prostitution is that the strip club business might be eviscerated or transformed. Imagine a LV type strip club, like Jaguars or Crazy Horse Too, except where you can take the girl upstairs and properly fuck her, for $200 or so. They already have that, for a lot less dough, in Spain and Germany. In one famous German brothel, the girl's uniform is...6" heels. That's it-shoes! They get fined if caught wearing a towel of any clothes. Entry fee, three shots, full use of facilities: less than $250.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but "law enforcement" does NOT make the laws. Your ELECTED lawmakers do, and they make the laws based upon an antiquated set of religious morality that keeps them in office. Why do I always see a lot of bitching about "law enforcement", but I don't see anything on these boards about trying to change these laws?  Unfortunately (or fortunately), that is how democracy works. Maybe it's because NOW and the other women's groups are hypocrites. Their motto should be "We demand the right to do what we please with our bodies when it comes to abortion, but we aren't going to fight for the right to do what we please with our bodies when it comes to sex". Any providers feel like starting a real "rights" movement for women?

The relatively high prices you saw in Amsterdam may be partly due to the tourist "trap" effect. It's the locals who know where the real bargains are. I saw comparatively much lower prices in Melbourne, Australia than here during a relatively lengthy stay; as in Amsterdam, escorting is legal in Australia.

I just want to add that the service you provide to me is a joy...a true blessing to a regular 35-year old that loves women...and dosn't want to try to be so impressive every time he wants to be with one.
Be proud of the service you provide, because I hold you in high esteem...as do most of the men here online.
Sorry to blather on.

Nicole is right - LE makes decisions all the time as to what laws to enforce, and which to ignore. Just drive on I5 someday and see CHP's ignoring cars driving 75 miles/hour.

Call it a shared culpability between our politicians and LE. They both deserve to be blamed.

Lets all start to do something about this!

I think that eventually this business will be legal, it's just going to take a long time.  We can work to shorten that time if we keep at it.

Look at pot.  Back in the 60's I knew a guy who went to prison for posessing what today in California wouldn't even get you a slap on the hand.   And I remember being in the army in the south when Kennedy pushed the civil rights issue through congress. Restaurants were ordered to remove "whites only" from the window signs and Ole Miss had riots to keep out folks who now attend freely. Other moral issues have changed in my lifetime too.

Can't you argue that what happened to Big Doggie is yet another chip in the legal facade?  The case seems all but over.  The net is huge and sex on the net is letting everyone take a look at what some do and others just think about doing.

So lets not ever stop working to make what we do legal.  I trust that some time in my life this may not be legal but there won't be all this LE fuss.  Like getting caught with a joint is today.
