this war is privatized to a large extent - and lots of troops are getting out, and going back at much higher prices, to provide security for private contractors (eg Titan, KBR, et al), which of course bill the taxpayer - and I keep hearing that nobody could have anticipated this - nobody that wasn't fucking lobotomized...

Does that mean Kennedy had a plan for Iraq?  Maybe Nixon will come back from the dead and end Iraq too.  The Zapruder head snap didn't get us outta Vietnam, but it made "Motorcade" a household word.  You don't hear that word much these days.  I once saw "Bay of Pigs" listed on a barbeque menu in Miami.  Maybe World Trade Center will become a liberal's joke pretty soon.  If not, it would make a dynamite open-face sandwich.  If you can't find your way to the bad guys, don't worry, they'll find you.  Any providers out there that look like Hillary?

...occurred in 1959, during Ike's second term.  Couldn't really expect someone whose last name is "Dummy" to know this, I guess.  And I'm hardly suggesting that the Democrats did all they could to keep us out or get us out; they certainly didn't, especially LBJ.

Sixty-some years ago we were at war with Japan and decided to nuke 'em. Thirty-five years later they were an Economic powerhouse, part of the G-7.

Obviously, if we really want to help the Iraqi people, we need to nuke them. Get on the phone tomorrow and talk to you senators and congress men. Urge them to nuke Iraq! Don't you want help those people? Don't you want them to enjoy the same standard of living that Japan does now?

Come on people, stop being so selfish!

Oh, and if altruism isn't reason enough, I've heard that radioactive oil gives you an extra 3 mpg.

the terrorists nuke us first!?  does that mean that they will give us money to rebuild our inner city infrastructure... improve our educational institutions.... have UN inspectors for our elections (especially in Florida)...  provide health care to all our citizens...

hey, wait a minute...  maybe if they would guarantee that they would do this for us after they nuke us... we could live with that!?   just a thought.  opps....   can't have those now - can we.

The terrorists can't nuke us first if they've already been nuked. Their children's children could nuke us, but they won't. Instead they'll sell us cars that are 10x better than anything GM can make.

was that no one could come up with a valid exit strategy.  Too bad sonny didnot listen to his dad. We had allies in the fight back then and knew better.  There are too many factions within Iraq, all Muslim, including the Sunni, the Kurds and the Shiites that use any excuse to kill each other.  They have been enemies since before there was a USA and always will be. Too much history to overcome. Right now they are using us as an excuse to kill each other and our troops.  We are in the middle of a mess now with no real solution with nobody to help us. The imported terrorists are just a part of the problem.  the real issue is internal as it was with Sadam and as it will be when we finally leave.

Ok, her it is for the clueless. In Vietnam we were fighting Soviet union style Communism. In Iraq we are fighting Islamic Fundamentalists that believe they must kill anyone that refuses to submit to allah. Anyone that thinks Iraq had no WMDs and had no connection to terrorism, probably also believes North Vietnam had no connection to the USSR or Communist China and didn't use soviet made weapons.

...after their war with us when China invaded 'em.  They kicked China's ass, too.  NOT EVEN THE ADMINISTRATION believes the WMD story any more.  Bush has publicly admitted that he was probably wrong about the WMDs, but that the world is a better place without Saddam Hussein running one of its countries. (No quarrel with THAT, bts.)  As for connection to terrorism, Iraq may well have chipped in to finance some terrorist cells, BUT THE ADMINISTRATION HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THIS.  And by that I mean: NO PROOF WHATEVER.
So we're in a war because we THOUGHT there may have been WMDs, and we ASSUMED (without proof) that there was an Iraq-terrorism connection.  Rather a different story from Vietnam, where we were stopping the fall of the dominoes.  
By the way, the communist government of Vietnam runs one of the most aggressively capitalist economies in South Asia. Vietnam inspired China to kick-start its own economy.  That war was really worth it, wasn't it?

Obviously you did not hear the Interview with one of Sadaams' Generals that admitted that the WMDs were moved to Syria when the UN weapons inspectors were being delayed by Sadaams protests. We know he used poison Gas on a Kurdish village. I for one am glad we removed him from power before, thats BEFORE, he had the chance to use poison gas on someone else. Let's not forget Sadaam Hussein violated the Cease Fire agreement first. We gave him more than enough time to fix things and he basically gave the world the finger.
Oh, and I started my post by calling NVN's Government Soviet style Communism.

despite trying to buy votes in the UN Security Council (One of the most loathsome acts I had ever seen) Only the US and Britain wanted to still invade.  The UN inspector still wanted to give Saddam more time and said Iraq was cooperating, albeit a bit more slowly than he cared for.

The assertion that the weapons were moved to Syria is dubious.  It would have been caught by reconnaisance and Bush would have touted it.
Statements from former generals should be taken with a grain of salt.

The world also doesn't give a shit about Darfur or what was happening in Yugoslavia.  Europe couldn't keep its backyard clean and the US (under Clinton) had to go into Yugoslavia to keep those numbnuts from killing each other.  Also, another land with hate going back through the centuries.

Since we are occupied with Iraq and Afghanistan, let's watch and see how the world (and the UN) comes up with answer to Darfur and stops the slaughter in a peaceful way that does not upset the natives there.
