I don't mean to smash and the only reason this isn't first posted on the suggestion / newbie board is because this I find more than frustrating and would like to vent.  Please bear with me.  My post are spontaneous and I would like to see them posted in a timely manner since a window of opportunity for some awesomenss closes by the hour.  I realize that moderators have live's but I depend on letting the public know and try to spark interest.  I noticed that I attempted to post my ad about 12:30pm and its now 3:31pm and no post :( .  Am I missing something, is there a way to get my ad up faster?  Any info would help...I didn't want to post on the newbie board because I see my others area posts go up all the time...there are days in between posts on my local board...clueless.  Guess I have kinda opened the door for a spanking but this is a kinda a this a bitchy post ...  thank you for your time & thoughts.

You need to contact admin and assk to be unmoderated. It is not somehting they do automatically. I belong ot other boards where you have to post x number of posts, or be amember for x number of months to be unmoderated, but here, you have to ask, and they will either unmoderate you, or tell you to post more and ask again. They want to see a posting history, so in that case you can be in a catch 22. If you don't post because you are frustrated that your posts don't go up right away, then you will never be unmoderated.

...I have seen you post from time to time. You may not be aware but we no longer have board moderators as we once did. Board Admin now does the moderating. Assuming you haven't run into any trouble with Board Admin in any of your posts and your ads comply with ad posting rules I recommend communicating with Board Admin by clicking the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and request to be unmoderated.  (I am assuming the same moderation rules apply to ads. I realize that may not be the case.)

While I understand your gripe, I also understand that these posts are free and the people who moderate the boards are volunteers!  I also know that once you've been on here for a while they will stop moderating you all on their own!  I guess my thoughts are to try to plan ahead a little bit and incorporate the delay into your timing!

There are no volunteer moderators since February. Moderating is done by admin (by paid employees, I assume). Getting unmoderated is not automatic. You have to ask.

My answer is based upon my own experience and your much-appreciated update as to current policies and procedures does nothing to cause me to change my answer.  The bottom line is that the ad posts here are FREE so I'd probably do my best to be most gracious and appreciative to whomever is moderating these boards!  Something about getting more with honey than vinegar, I remember my mom telling me once!

up to date knowledge then better of not offering advice. Its best to leave it to others who are more abreast with the information.

And FWIW, this didn't change yesterday. It was about 7 months ago that this changed.

I didn't expect you to eat and breathe TER, but you have been a member for many years, and a frequent poster the past few months. I would assume you knew about the changes. And if you didn't why would you post a comment with the wrong information that disagreed with the three correct responses abive yours? The "biting the hand that feeds you" comment is fine and probably good advice but the comments on the volunteer mods and automatic unmoderation was incorrect. Disagreeing on a discussion board is fine, but you were disagreeing with people who had valid information, with your invalid information.

As one of the former mods here, yes WE used to occasionally unmoderate posters who followed the rules all on our own, but that is no longer the case.

It is however rather easy to get unmoderated by simply asking for it. Unless you have been "moderated for cause" it's highly unlikely that such a request will be denied. It's quite obvious by the number of posts being made on the wrong board that there are quite a few rather new posters that are unmoderated, either that or whoever is approving the posts is asleep at the wheel

I can understand the frustration of being moderated, it's tough to carry on a conversation when your posts don't go up in real time. and come to think of it, I don't remember too  many people being appreciative when I modded this board, most of the PMs I received started off with "Hey Asshole"

I have seen a lot of "vinegar" in my many years here, The OP was very polite in her query. She also admitting not knowing all the rules and regulations here. You OTOH not only gave her wrong and misleading advice, but you can't seem to quit while you are behind.

You were wrong, big deal. People make mistakes Just drop it and lets all move on.

I knew of the new policy change when it happen.  Just haven't been active on TER since then being more comfy on local boards.  I do enjoy poppin in and trying to keep abreast and I know policies have changed and was looking for the advice that these veterans were so gracious to bestow upon me.  To you, thank you.  Before I bite the hand that feeds me, my local moderator, I choose to educate myself about how best to approach it.  I choose to build a posting history and then ask to be unmoderated.  Until then I realize I need to include the delay in my timing.  Thank you again.

You aren't biting any hands. And as we said earlier, there are no local moderaters.
You already have some piating history. Why wait to ask? Contact them now and just ask, "can I be unmoderated?" You will either be unmoderated (most likely) or not. It's not like they are going to punish you for asking and make you wait longer.
Many gave veen unmoderated after a very small amount of posts.
