we all have that battle..the big head says to stay on a budget..the little head says 'fuck it..you only live once..go for it"..who ultimately wins the battle will show in your ability to pay your bills and live the way you want to live..

Just hoping for some advice on this.

I recently had to make a career change and settle for a 50k salary job. I used to make a lot more, but this is where I am now.

If you consider the fact that I'm extremely frugal with everything other than the hobby and don't have anyone else to support, is it ok to be spending 20k per year on this? Maybe 10k makes more sense?

Kev, it's your money, but since you're asking for advice: I wouldn't spend 40% of my income on the sex trade.  That's a big chunk of $$$ that you'll never see again. Try putting some money away in case you get sick or injured.

You might establish a separate account,  a 'fun account' and only use that for the sex trade.  That's the easiest way to stick to a budget.  regards, --z

these things should come naturally to any adult.

Next thing you know, we are giving advice to adults on how to tie their shoes

I used to love playing with them as a kid. Would love the sound they make. Used to drive my parents nuts. Next thing I know, they got me slip-ons

Without knowing what your expenses look like, it's hard to say what you should do.

I can tell you that you should not be spending more than 1/3 of your after-tax monthly net income on housing, and that you should have at least six months of expenses saved up in a liquid asset such as a savings account.

Beyond that, what you do with your money is your business.

10k a year is nearly 1k per month.  Do you really need to spend $250/week on pussy?

Just sounds a little excessive.  But that's just me, you know.

That's the lease payment on a nice car.

In some VERY rare instances a lease can make sense...but not if you don't own a business and have certain tax advantages with leasing.

Oh shit...that's just me being the pathetic CPA in me  LOL

Sure...everybody should buy (or lease) today with tomorrows bucks.....it's the American way  :D

My lease is coming up this summer will need a large sedan or suv to fit my hookers in. But for real $50k a year salary!?! My man better hit up BP and have some "product" for those crackhead girls no way he should be spending anything over $100 for pussy.

The math doesn't add up.  Unless you live in your mom's basement.

I just confirmed with John Boehner that the solution to the Fiscal Crisis is now solved.

There's a refundable $ 200,000 credit for all johnnie boys so that the hookers can stay gainfully employed..errr contracted.  As long as they claim the income...it's a win-win for the entire Republic!  Sorry for those gas giants tho...they don't apparently see johnnie boys...off to Wal-Mart as a greeter I guess  :D

Go for it pal...you're country is depending on it  :D

It requires that you set up a budget, record every dollar you spend and compare it to the budget, and set your goals and priorites and stick to them.

Don't spend blindly.

You will find lots of ways to start saving money when you examine every expenditure, and find ways to live without things you thought you had to have.

For example, until I was pinched for cash, I never realized that $3.50/lb chuck steak tasted better than $10/lb sirloin.

Also, use the internet to buy things instead of driving to stores.  You can comparison shop on line, find the best price of things, and the postage is a lot cheaper than the cost of driving to a store.  It saves time too.

Cancel any subscriptions to magazines, news papers, even the TV's premium channels if you don't watch them that much (I've given up TV altogether.)  Why keep spending money for something you don't use or enjoy.

Sometimes, these financial setbacks can make us better people in the end.

I hope you thrive in adversity.

There are some very smart people out there who just don't manage their money very well.  And if we think about the purpose of this board, it seems to me that people come here for help & advice on all aspects of the sex trade.  Let's face it, this is an expensive diversion.  And if you're not careful, you can easily slip into financial trouble because of it.

If I'm going to post on this board, I'd rather try to help someone than shout insults at them.  --z

People wanting ready made solutions to everything. Just put it in microwave and its ready in 30 seconds.

Sometimes, the best advice is to tell them to figure it out themselves. Do you really think that people who post these type of questions are really seeking advice? They are merely asking for affirmation, or sometimes not even that. Just trolling.

If he can't figure out that $10 K out of $50 K, which is 20% of his income is way too much to squander away on pussy, then he doesn't even deserve to make that $50 K. And the guy is asking, if he should spend $20 K?  I mean are you fuckin' shitting me?

To answer these kind of questions is insulting your own intelligence.

But for $5 K, I will give him a nice plan to follow :D

Whatever accomplishes the goal is all that should matter.

When some guy has the audacity to pose as asinine a question as the OP posted...you can talk to him as a 6 year old...as you're suggesting.  Or treat him like a grown up and slap him silly.

FWIW my kids when they were 6 would easily know the answer to the OP question.  And I suppose that extends to most 6 year olds as well!

Nice passive aggressive narcissism there z  :D

I'll play a long since this is an easy one.  You description of your situation was to vague to offer any real useful advice.

If you have millions in the bank the percentage is a little low.  If you live paycheck to paycheck it is high.

For anyone else I would say it depends on the amount of discretionary income you want to spend in order to reach the desired level of satisfaction from the hobby.

....your wallet will be full, overflowing if you get good at it......

....spending $$$ here is like bad Chinese food, you pay, you are satisfied for 10 minutes, then you are hungry and the wallet is empty.

I don't know how old you are.  But if you're 22-27, and you plan to spend 50% of your take-home pay on the hobby .. then ok.  You won't save anything, but you're still young

If you're in your late 28 - 40s,  I think you should save some for retirement.
If you spend $600/month - that's $7,200 in a year.  I suggest you do that.
