Ladies and gentlemen,

I've been following the STI app 'Hula' for a while, and their latest rebranding into 'Healthvana' seems like a really great community resource for hobbyists and providers alike.  

It allows you to share your STI test results, directly from a doctor or clinic, while keeping your real name hidden.  

Here are the steps:  

#1 - get tested (they have a testing center/clinic locator on their webpage if you need help finding one)  

#2 - make a Healthvana profile.  

#3 - request your medical records. You will need to provide your real name, birthday, phone number that your clinic/doctor has one file, and electronic signature, though none of these will be shown on your profile page.  

#4 - make sure the Healthvana settings are set to private. The user interface is pretty simple, and it gives you a link so you can see what your profile looks like to others with the information hidden. Double and triple check, lol.

Once your results are in, you can send the link via email or text to anyone you'd like.

For maximum privacy, you can share the link with the person you're meeting up with, and once they've confirmed seeing your results, you can change the setting for STI results back to 'hidden'.

Unless you are advertising for a "no cover" full service, there's no point of this app.

I highly doubt that either providers or hobbyists will welcome this kind of thing.  

You are still revealing information to some sort of online service. How good is their online privacy? How good is that website protection against hackers?

With the recent hacks of online stores such as Target and eBay, I do not give out that kind of information to any online service. Period.

Both HPV and Herpes can be contracted regardless of condom use.  

Gonorrhea can be contracted via the throat.  

Syphilis can be contracted by either giving or receiving oral sex.  

Condoms are wonderful. I'm certainly happy that they exist but they aren't invincible disease shields.

applaud this!   You might be surprised by the number of ladies who come here, after working on the outside who test positive for an STD and can't work here until they are treated and can retest clean.

 
I fully support ladies working on the outside to be as careful as we are and practice safer sex

STIs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis can be transmitted orally.

There is always risk in sharing fluid - and (you're absolutely right) - in sharing data.

We all choose what level of risk we want to play at.  

I shared the information about Healthvana to add to the tools people have available in making these types of decisions.

there's always dangers with putting sensitive info. online like that. It probably would be a site that some crazy person would have fun hacking into.
And I think the site would give ppl. a false sense of security when it comes to their health.  
The test comes back negative, states the person is good to go- but who have they been with since the test was taken???  
It just takes one person to infect another- then that person can pass it a million times over (well however many ppl he/she has sex with) until they are tested again.
A clean bill of health is only good until you are with one person unprotected- no matter if their test said they were good to go.
From the info. I have I found, there's no test for a guy who can be passing HPV.  
It's a good idea, but it absolutely in no way whatsoever is a safe way to decide if someone is safe to play with.....
An std test means nothing if the person has multiple partners in the same day. The person would need to be celibatet after taking the test until the next person they are with & then how can you guarantee that the other person has also been celibate.......
Sorry- it's just a false sense of security. I think someone who is promiscuos would use it to encourage others to partake in risky behaviors. But a good idea.

Thank you. Some STD's (such as HIV) can take MONTHS to appear on a test. And let's say someone had all their tests done, came back negative for everything...but no one is getting tested everyday, so if they had sexual contact of any kind in-between the day of the test results and their next appointment, it kinda makes the results null and void.  
        And no, there are no tests to confirm whether a guy has HPV or not, and unless they develop the strain that cause warts, there will be NO symptoms. There is a vaccination for HPV, but it only protects against the major strains that are cancer causing, and not the other 100 other strains, and you have to have the vaccination by the age of 26...they say after that age it is basically pointless to receive it.  

No amount of testing can reduce or eliminate the risk of STI transmission between two non-monogamous people who are having a sexual encounter. False positives and negatives, incubation periods, activity since the test, and soooo many other factors come into play.  

OTOH, testing remains a very good, essential thing to do! Testing is the best way to detect and treat STI's in their early stages, and gives us the ability to limit spread of an STI by voluntarily curtailing our sexual activity while we are infectious.  

Testing is awesome at helping us get effective and rapid treatment ONCE WE ARE INFECTED, and awesome at REDUCING SPREAD AMONG A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE, but it has little relevance to sex between to sexually active people (multiple partners) for any single instance of sex. In other words, a positive test result is much more helpful at reducing the spread of disease than a negative one!

I've never asked for his or been asked for mine. I just throw mine away at the doctor's office after the clinician tells me I'm all clear.

One guy did offer to show me his when he was trying to talk me into BBFS. Screw that!
