You walk in calm. At least that’s what you tell yourself. Inside, your brain is doing 40 calculations per second. Where do I stand? Do I sit? Is this too quiet? Am I overthinking this? (Yes.)

There’s always that tiny awkward window where both people are adjusting. Shoes off. Small talk loading. Energy syncing. It can feel like forever… even though it’s probably 90 seconds.

And then suddenly, it clicks. The tension drops. Conversation flows. You stop being hyper-aware of your own existence.

But those first minutes? Wild every single time.

Be honest are you smooth from the start, or do you also need a minute to calibrate?

The first date, I need some time to get acclimated and settle in. I don't like to rush anyone, especially on an initial meeting, as I try and read the room on what the girl feels comfortable with.
