Hair coloring for men

Ladies, if you know a man has dyed his hair, and he is almost 50, is that a turn on/off/doesn't matter? I'm getting pretty gray and am starting to think I might want to have it colored. Does it help/hurt the sex appeal?

Men, have any of you had it done? Is there a way of having it done where a little 'temple gray' is left? Did you use an in-home product, or go to a stylist? How often do you get it done? If it is going to be a major expense every couple months, I guess I'll just go 'silver fox'.

Is there really any difference between the men's and women's product?

i like a little silver on a man, I think it's sexy. MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

The gentleman I know who dye their hair look very nice.  The gentlemen I know who don't also look very nice.  Most importantly, it is how it makes YOU feel.  If something makes you feel more attractive, I say go for it!

As for differences in the men's and women's products...I couldn't tell you.  I've only tried the ladies brands!  lol

If you go to a professional colorist the same stuff comes out of the bottle whether you are male or female.  You can certainly choose whether you want all the gray covered or just some of it but keep in mind that once you decide to start coloring your hair routine maintenance becomes a fact of life.

I guess it's up to you. My hair went gray many years ago and I'm fine with it.

Wish mine would stay around long enough to turn silver :(

By my late thirties I was almost completely grey. When I had my first child, a daughter, at 39 I decided to start coloring my hair. That was three years ago now. I have it done each time I get a hair cut and have them leave the temples and sides alone. I then use "a touch of grey" on the sides which leaves a good salt and pepper look.

I have had my hair completely dyed, streaked, and colored tips.
My son and his fiance' thought it looked fake.  My stylist likes it salt and pepper.  My wife likes it either way.  I took my hairdresser's advice, salt and pepper...

I think He looks sexy, my favorite guy is Richard Gere..

Ah yes, S&P which assures her doing maintenance...

My hair is salt and pepper bu my beard is mostly white and silver with dark streaks.  I had a lady who cut my hair and convinced me to dye the beard.

The beard looked good, but it was darker than my hair. just silly.  She then wanted to dye my hair.  Enough.  I am 67, look good for my age.  Am thankful I have a full head of salt and pepper hair. The creases in my face match the color of my hair.

I am very satisfied.

But to those who want their hair dyed: enjoy.  Just make sure you use a good professional to do it as it needs to be right or it looks silly.

and beards (mine) went white long before my mustache.  I have colored my (grey) hair just for fun, on a whim once, but it looked silly (way too dark) and the color would need to be maintained as hair grew out.  Hell with that!  And anyway, soon enogh, methinks I'll thin and bald so much that the next step will be shaving the head: "chrome dome."
