There was some sort of Emergency Alert in my area last night.   These will punch right through mute/Do not disturb/etc on your Android phone.

Yes, You can disable most emergency alerts (not Presidential Alerts) ... but you need to remember to explicitly do that when you buy / upgrade the phone.

I've had too many incidents where a hostile actor has gotten a hold of my phone,  you'd think I'd learned by now, but apparently I haven't.

Sigh.  it takes constant vigilance.

0) Have a strong lock on your phone.
1) Always keep your phone full charged.
2) Always keep your minutes/data topped up
3) Always keep the phone off when not in use.
4) Never have the phone where someone else can access it.
5) Always have notifications off .
6) Have a plausible reason for having a second phone  (Work, Travel, etc).

Breaking these rules are tragicomic  .. I used to frequent a Rub & Tug provider that would blow up your phone to drum up business when things were slow.   One day, I was rolling up to her place where I discovered that her constant stream of texts had run out my hobby phone's credit.   I had to text her from my civvy phone.   Once she got a hold of that number, she started blowing up both numbers.     Guess what happened the one day I forgot my phone at home....

Why not use a google voice instead of those burner phones.. Message coming from Google Voice are easy to conceal than a physical phone - assuming all you are doing is trying to hide your illicit actives from your domestic overlord, and not too concerned about Law Enforcement.

I used to use a separate phone back in the early days of mongering, but  since 2009 I have only been using Google Voice.

...to turn off your location settings.

We don't need anyone tracking the phone's whereabouts, right?

Also, I've never used Google Voice but I have seen provider's ads that state they won't accept phone calls from such a service. I'm not sure how prevalent that sentiment is among providers but it is something to bear in mind.

Buena suerte!

I've seen a number of provider ads that now say they will instablock you if use an internet/GV number.  To me its no different than getting a burner phone and registering with a fake name and address. SMH, but I see it all the time now.

I've had a provider tell me to call her back on using a "real number." I remember reading that legacy versions of GV ID'd GV calls. The version I have does not.

See, as an escort/ provider.  We (Escort/Provider) do have to be extremely careful when we are answering our phone & doing escorting. Only because the police are possing as a "Client"  as more and more Escorts/Providers are\was getting arrested.  I have been doing this off & on since I was eighteen and a half. That includes working for escort agencies.  And twice I have spotted the police.  Luckily, I never got arrested
