TER General Board

Growing hostilities

I'm deeply concerned about the growing hostility on the boards. In days gone by, my recent post "My personal pathology" would have drawn a lot of sexy talk and levity. Instead, there was mostly harshness, anger and hostility. It was out of place and uncalled for. My initial comments were frivolous. Many people seemed to take it so personally. All using aliases, of course. Suddenly all the postings of one participant were removed. Another string on the SD board regarding providers having bad days has also gotten extremely hostile.
More and more people are now being moderated, there's been considerable tense discussion over the new provider board, the use of aliases is out of control. (I'm not even going to mention the one guy who's trying to play Star Trek with me.)

What the hell is going on?

and be strengthened by the negativity. As for "Star Trek", if he is trying to "take you where no man has ever gone before", just make sure she is 18 (unless you're a priest, then go for it with the blessings of the Bishops......ok, we'll throw a Cardinal or two's blessings in there also).

I've noticed this too, Riker.
More and more posters are jumping on other posters, being rude, arguing pointlessly. TBD in many cities has degenerated into a schlong-wagging forum full of indirect provider ads.
I hope that stops here and now.
Some jerk was attacking me below on a thread repeatedly for no reason at all. He did not even understand what the thread was about and just would not cut it out, seemed like a real dummy so I'll not mention his name to protect the innocent.
Let's keep it positive, useful, informative, friendly and most of all humorous.

Time to go out and get my Sunday morning bbjeoku, instead of church. Somewhere in my neighborhood John Ashcroft is just singing away: "Stand up, stand up for Jesus." I'll never understand all of that singing about some Mexican guy. Probably has something to do with NAFTA. LOL

I know! I know -- it's a statement made famous by Rodney King.

I know I am stating the obvious -- the purpose of most discussion boards is to provide a forum to share ideas, views, suggestions, and even at times vent.

Over a period of time TER discussion boards has helped in creating a virtual community of sorts.  A safe haven, where folks could speak freely on topics that are taboo otherwise.

I agree with Riker and The Lost Schlong (TLS) in that these boards were not intended for personal attacks, or to make deliberately hurtful statements.  These actions are recent anomolies.

Moving forward, let us all collaborate on keeping the boards clean, fun, and exciting.  Personally, I enjoy a witty repartee over a mean/hurtful comment.

Just my 2 cents.

This stuff happens all the time. What you need to do, is not take it so personally. It's just a discussion board. My first month or two on the SD board was crazy. I was over opinionated. I just didn't know when to shut up. I took some time off, and came back with a better outlook on things. If someone chooses to insult me, I simply ignore them, or kindly ask why they made such a comment.
this board is not your life, so settle down and just handle it with a grain of salt. Life is to short to get pissed about the little things. As for the aliases. Why not. TER has made them available, so why not use them. Most people use them to avoid getting denied by a provider because of something he said. If I make a strong statement under an alias, I can still see a provider and tell her my real screen name with no problems.

What's the big deal? I laugh at myself on a regular basis. Am I supposed to get upset if some ANONYMOUSE poster calls me an asshole? Hell, he could be right. Unlike most people, I'm honest with myself (and others), and when I'm being an asshole, I know that I am. Sometimes it even stops me from continuing...... hey, I said SOMETIMES. Bottom line, have fun here guys, learn something, and help each other out when possible, but don't be afraid to rip someone if you think they deserve it. (Great suck up boss, especially that bottom line shit;  shut up you idiots, I really mean it;  ROTFLOAO......good one boss...."really mean it", verrry sincere;  hey, told you boys, the key here is sincerity, once you learn to fake that, the rest is easy).
