I can not stop thinking about a date I had this past week.  He had booked well in advance, dinner date with drinks, the whole shabang.

From my end, I had put a lot of thought and planning into this date, and had spent the better part of the day getting ready, new dress and everything.

So he shows up looking all nice and handsome dressed in his business like attire and his white shirt was a perfect compliment to my all white dress.  That part by the way, was completely unplanned.

So we've ordered our meal and we're having our drinks, strawberry margarita for me, and something else for him, that he only referred to as "liquid courage".

He confessed that he had been so excited, and yet so nervous about meeting me, that he just wanted to do everything right.  He complimented me and told me how pretty I looked and how proud he was to be seen with me.  You could actually feel his sincerity, they werent just words.

I reached across the table to hold his hand, and like a total Dimwhit, I spilled my whole entire strawberry margarita down my entire front side.

Completely embarrassed, I ran to bathroom to try and clean up.  There was no way to "fix" the damage, of one large strawberry margarita down the entire front side of the one said, completely white dress.  I literally was in tears in the bathroom, knowing I had just probably ruined the whole entire date for this guy.

When I came back to the table, my date was standing there with the most ginormous red stain all over his white shirt!  While I was gone, he had ordered another strawberry margarita and poured it all on his self, so we would look the same.

His gesture blew me away.  We got our meal to go, and I have to say, the absolute best date EVER!

What a nice guy ;) they say nice guy finishes last, hope he finishes first this time. No pun intended.

Well, I guess the closest I can come is I'm looking around for her, and when I'm not expecting it, sashays up to me, puts her arm around my waist, while I then put my around around her shoulder, and she looks up at me with a winsome smile.

BTW. That guy is a keeper. He demonstrates empathy, attunement, and is not too full of himself. ;)

That is the most wonderful story I've lately read. That guy is totally selfless and an example for us all. His ability to quickly read the situation and respond with an equalizer was perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I'm not surprised that you enchanted him however.

I should know.

A bit corny, but a true 'beau geste."  The bottom line is that it worked for both of you, so there was a connection from the beginning.

I keep a Gratitude journal of all the things that I am thankful for.  I cherish every thought, act, and kind deed every shown to me, and I journal it never to forget.  I try to show to others, what I have also been so graciously shown.  There is good in everybody, I look for it, and honor it, and so too will their light continue to shine on others.

I've hobbied for three decades now, and i'm still surprised sometimes by how some providers react to the genuine side of a hobbiest's behavior. Granted, some of us are, and always will be PIGS, but i trust that any guy who goes thru the effort to be a gentleman is also cool enuf to allow YOU to be genuine too. You're not always "on stage'  with a guy like that. When do you relax and let yourself enjoy HIS company? With some guys, it isn't all about their self absorbed needs. Sounds like you almost missed a really good time. I hope the rest of the evening brought you as much joy as you brought him
