I am a relatively new low-volume fbsm provider. I received the oddest email today that i am sure is not common but i just wanted to share it.

The guy sent me an email, name/age/references etc. Everything looked promising, I gave him a call to follow up on the email. He sounded really sweet. Well when i asked him how long he would like to schedule for he said two hours but that he only had enough money to pay for one hour. I let him know that i would only be willing schedule an hour then, he then tells me that if i let him have the second hour free, he would be willing to write a great review for me on TER and other review sites. I was shocked and hung up. He called back and left a message saying that a great review would really get business going for me.

Now i am wondering how many new girls he may try to pull this with.....

This guy sounds a lot like one of the guys in that movie.. Needless to say, it didn't quite work out the way he had promised.

For as long as you want to play in this arena, expect more of the same. Unfortunately there are a number of providers that trade favors for reviews and other things. He probably goes down the list and I am betting he makes it work for him. It's despicable behavior, but it will continue. You can take that to the bank.

One, after he gets his appointment, if he doesn't then hold up his end of the bargain you have no recourse to get the rest of the owed donation, you can't say you made that deal or it would actually hurt your business.

Two, he completely undermines the purpose of reviews by offering to write a "great review" before he even partakes of the service to know if a "great" review is deserved or not.

Three, he can't actually help your business, guys that take deals, discounts, or freebies for reviews don't have the influence they claim to, as other prospective clients won't trust a damn thing the guy writes based on reason #2.  I was once having a conversation with a hobbyist about a new lady on the site, he said he would wait until she had reviews, I mentioned she had a couple, his reply was that he didn't know two of the guys, and didn't trust the third.

As for how many new ladies he tries to pull it on...I will guess all of them.

My advice to you, warn as many ladies as you can about this guy, and if it is allowed (ask your local board moderator if it is) post the story and username on your local board.  (really do ask if that is allowed first though).

You might also want to consider contacting TER and the other sites he offered to review you on, with the emails, as what he is proposing is review fraud of sorts, and I would assume grounds for his account to be terminated.

I had guys say the same thing to me...said a review was worth more than what they were getting in return...lol...I even had one guy ask for an over night and said he would guarantee me soooo much business after his review that he should actually get a percetage...but he would Never think of taking money from me...lol...the first couple months I was in this...the emails I got...I almost said it was Not worth it...I guess there are Guys out there that think We are desparate...I don't hear from any of those Guys any more...I just think...they target the newbies

A review does add to your validity as a provider but.....

you cannot copy and paste the review and take it to a mortgage company as your payment.

you cannot copy and paste the review and take it to your car loan company as your payment.

you cannot copy and paste the review and take it to your insurance company as your payment.

you cannot copy and paste the review and take it to your electric company as your payment.

you cannot copy and paste the review and take it the gas station and put it in your tank.

the list goes on and on as to what a review does not directly help to address.

I wonder why he can't just follow the rules and see you for a hour...then submit a review?

I have always been skeptical of how much of that is really going on throughout the hobby.   Especially in my area of the country where
the providers are few and far between.

His offer to you is strictly against the rules.  He needs to be banned.

Then she risks the chance that he resurrects himself with a new handle, new IP and e-mail addresses and a desire to get back at her. I wish providers had the courage to do that, but I can't blame them if they don't.

If she turned him in, he could only be sure it was her if she is the only one he has recently made this "offer" to.  If he has made to a lot of ladies, he may have a whole lot of revenge reviews to write.

Personally, I also agree with WebTerrorist on this.

Any one of us can search for a TER handle using an email address.  If the email address he used is not the one he uses for TER, they can find him using his IP address.  

I would not fear retaliation.  It will take TER some time to catch up with him.  Anyway, WTF could he possibly do to you?  Does he know where you live?  Does he even know your real name?  Screw him.  He is breaking the rules.  He obviously targeted you because you are new.  Show him that he cannot get away with it.  

This happens all of the time!!! New providers are the #1 Target!! At least once a week
or more when I have a new person!! NO ONE! want to rock the boat!! There are Agencies that do cater to this habit to get reviews for new ladies.

I would say no.  You are provideing a service and he should compensate you for your time.  How does he know if he is going to write a good review if he has not been with you yet?  Guys like this scare me.  Reviews do help our business but they should not be used as payment.  You don't know if this guy is even going to write a review.  Promicing to write a good review as payment puts the safety of others at risk and defeats the purpose of reviews.

My first year, I seemed to get one of those about once a month. That's just creepy.  It's a clear violation of the review system, but as we all know, there are a lot of violations of the review system out there.  People who are always trying to work an angle are not the kind of people I want to be engaged with in any business transaction, but especially one in which intimacy is involved. It undermines the review system, and that's an important system that helps both providers and hobbyists develop trustworthy reputations, stay safe and continue to have great experiences.
