A What Infection?!!!

I just had my feelings hurt by someone’s ignorance.  I saw a guy who I knew as non-client for many years and he decided to see me.

Anyway, he started asking me about STDs.  Now, when it comes to my health I discuss it openly because my health is OUR health.  I hope to receive the same respect.  I was telling this fellow that the last time I got checked for STDs was not too long ago because I had gone in to see my doctor about a yeast INFECTION.  My doctor found out that I had no STDs but I had a yeast INFECTION and a urinary tract INFECTION.   He panicked because he heard the word INFECTION and did not know what either one was.

How many guys here know what a yeast INFECTION and urinary tract INFECTION are?  If you do not know you are being very ignorant about women’s health and in turn your own.

First, a yeast INFECTION is when the healthy BACTERIA (yes women have BACTERIA in our vagina) in a vagina gets imbalanced and it causes dryness.  This can be caused by a douche.  A douche is type of internal wash for a vagina.  If you use it too often it creates an imbalance in the vagina and makes it dry and sticky inside.

Second, a urinary tract infection is when BACTERIA (any Bacteria) gets pushed up against the urinary tract opening of the vagina.  This usually happens during sex when lubricants and fluids are being pushed around.  If the woman does not pee shortly after sex and wash the bacteria away, the bacteria can crawl up the urinary tract opening and cause an infection in the bladder.  If this infection is left untreated, it can cause kidney problems for the women.  Men seldom ever get urinary tract infections for the obvious reason that men's urethra is so long that the bacteria never crawls up that far inside.  My grandma used to get urinary tract infections from holding her pee too long during her shifts as a waitress.

Do you get it?  These are INFECTIONS that WOMEN can and do give to themselves!

Okay, do you understand now?  The next time your wife tells you she has a yeast INFECTION or a urinary tract INFECTION, don’t apologize and confess to her about your hobby!  You didn’t give her a disease!!!  She gave it to herself!!!!!  These two diseases are very much like special female imbalances that can only happen to women.  Congratulations!  You learned something!

Thanks for the excellent explanation. You are 100% correct when you say men know little and understand less about womens health issues.

...yes I know what yeast and urinary tract infections are (thanks for the tutorial just the same.)  The image of a man confessing his participation in the hobby because his wife mentions she has a yeast infection is just too funny.  Thanks, I needed that.

Thank you, Pointer.  I understand how upsetting it can be when someone freaks out over such a thing out of ignorance.

"Candida albicans is a widespread organism with world-wide distribution. It is normally found in small amounts in the vagina, the mouth, the digestive tract, and on the skin without causing disease or symptoms (approximately 25% of women without disease symptoms have this organism present)."  http://www.healthcentral.com/mhc/top/001511.cfm

"Seriously, oral sex may be a major cause of recurrent yeast infections in women, because men may harbor the yeast in their mouths."

Yeast infections can come about when a female takes antibiotics for something else.

As for Urinary Tract infections ... when i used to scuba dive quite regularly with my (now ex-)hub ... we took to diving, waterskiing and swimming in the Castajic Lake System.  After such frolicking, we noticed that each time he would come down with an ear infection, and I, a bladder (urinary)infection.

Urinary tract infections are also called Honeymoon Cystitis, resulting from prolonged banging of Mr. Happy on Ms Cervix (induced by unusually frequent and extended bouts of passionate sex, of course what else?)

Dear Pointer, I can appreciate your frustration!!! Perhaps it's good your friend is a hobbyist now.  Seems like there are a lot of men running around who could learn a lot by becoming hobbyists, then perhaps forcing them to actually  focus on sexual RELATIONS. It just seems to me that Hobbyists take more of an interest in these things ... ask more questions and hmmm, or is it my imagination just because it's out on the boards?  Well anyway  it seems this board does help.

Oh Felicia,  I wish it had a happy ending.  You see after I told him about my INFECTIONs,  even after I explained what they were, he left and said I was dirty and gross.  He is either a) dumb as a rock or b) has a mental phobia of germs and is dumb as a rock.  Now this came from a guy who fucks girls in hostess clubs!  The reality was that he actually talked to a girl for more than five minutes in real life and he decided girls were dirty.  I guess, in the dark a quick pop just doesn't seem as dirty.  Needless to say I was insulted because I knew him for a long time and it hurt me to know he trusted my word so little.  I tried to give him a lesson about women's bodies and all he thought he understood was the word INFECTION.  That is why I tried to inform the rest of the guys here.  I mean if you want to know the truth about the cleanliness of people, you should know the truth and be able to understand what that MEANS.  Please,  I encourage all of you to read about STDs as well as the reviews.  For godsake,  don't do field research and start classifying people as dirty, when you don't even have the foggiest notion about the medical side of a woman's body!  Shit,  even I know all about prostate cancer, its symptoms, and cures!  At least take the time to learn about periods, yeast infections, urinary tract infections, and pregnancy.  Thank you!

A great thread.  I hope a lot of my fellow hobbyist read this.  I for one always before and after I see a provider use a strong mouth wash so as to reduce the possibility of transmitting something that may cause an infection.  A couple of my favorite ladies ask that I rinse before DATY.  I am not offended and just happy that they are cautious.   So my fellow hobbyist if a provider asks you to rinse don't feel offended she protecting you as well as herself.

as you found out.  Le't face it, the penis Owner's Manual has one entry:  "Avoid getting kicked in the nuts, it hurts."

It is surprising how little some guys know, especially the very  young or old.  Even married guys frequently don't know much if their wives don't feel comfortable sharing what's going on.  So thanks for your informative and well-written explanation re. the frequently misunderstood vagaries of the vagina.  Now, what's the deal with fibroids...

use wintergreen.

By the way great thread.  That's what makes this board great, between the joking, and teasing, and more teasing, and.... anybody got a feather?

There is real information to learn, that betters our lives, and improves our ability to communicate.

G ;-)

sheesh!!!  after all this talk, i'd better educate myself better!!!

I'm thinking of going to see the  Vagina Monologues.  Anyone wanna cum?  We can call it "Health Class 101"

Btw for those interested parties, Christine Northrop has written a great book called Women's Health Women's Wisdom ... a combo of east/west, body/mind/soul orientations.  She has appeared on KCET, and also on Oprah.  Great insights.  Wonderful book.  Any Barnes and Noble, or Borders should carry it.

Hey where is JP?

Thanks Pointer for the great input!  I for one do not really understand those terminologies until you further explained them.  Normally it is sorta a taboo subject to talk about with female friends you know.  Unless I take the effort to go read it at a bookstore or something.  Even then, it is somewhat embarrassing being caught reading it. :)  Anyhow, I was wondering when women have either yeast infection or urinary tract infection, should they be staying off intercourse or oral sex?  Thanks!
