I find it curious that both the consevs.. and libs... paint this movie as anti-Bush... I've never thought of it in that context. But it the article that you pointed to does raise the question, how do you differentiate between a freedom fighter and a terrorist? And when is it morally responsible to oppose any government?
These questions are difficult - and incredibly complex. Any fair, and well presented thought-piece that forces us to examine these questions is worthy... Thanks...
I don't know how many of you have seen this movie. I am a big succer for action hero comic book style movies. Give me Bat Man, Give me Spider Man, Give me Dare Devil... but make the movie a good one! LOL
This was a very unique and intriguing movie at best. Very politically charged. A Dystopian novel, a blend of 1984 batman; after a third world war britians people are hammered with fear by a media controlled by a government. It's all about political correctness gone mad, sensorship gone mad.. well you get the picture. It is a DC Comic book character but they chose to focus more on the causes that the character fought for, an oppressive facist like government in Great Britian. Through out the movie you see snippets of news within the civilians homes on TV's where the newscasters keep referring to the Former United States. There are some pretty touching scenes. It has some solid punch packed scenes with action and lots of sword play. The plot is original and the story line is a good one.
Leaves you in the end thinking about where our country, our world is heading.

I really did enjoy the movie and think it is worth seeing. I agree it is political in nature, however since the comic book and the comic book writings have been around since the early 80's I don't necessarily tie it in with the Bush Administration either. I think the movie just makes it's point by warning people to keep their governments "in check" so to speak and know that if they don't they have only themselves to blame. As "V" states in the movie "the people shouldn't be afraid of their governments, the governments should be afraid of their people".
