What do all of you fellow hobbyist's and providers feel about a provider who agrees to go on a cruise with you and you have made the proper ticket arrangements and then she lets you know that she has booked as what she terms a once in a lifetime trip with someone else for more $$ and that she will not be able to accompany you. Just curious as to how the rest of you feel about this.

It's one thing to cancel an ordinary appointment with an occasional client in order to accomodate a regular, but once any client has made a financial commitment based on your consent, it is not acceptable to jump at a bigger and better deal.  How would she like it if she set aside a big weekend then you canceled at the last second to see another proviider instead?

I think it`s the kind of situation that gives certain people a bad name. Fire her..... so to speak. Find someone else to spend your time and money on.

Don't get me wrong, this guy could be telling the truth.  But something about his post raises red flags, especially after reading Inthishobby's warning below in his Delusionary Hobbyiest post.
If he makes something like this up, he could damage someone's reputation.. let's make sure he's telling the truth and not just after revenge on some provider he can't have.

A deal is a deal, a word is a word anywhere. Once you said ok, even if you've suddenly got a better offer, then it's too late.

Some one who does that has NO CLASS............

Wasn't as elaborate as a cruise (thank god). Made arraingments for a weekend with a lady. I gave her a deposit, airfare, hotel, dinner reservations, etc.. all were made.She blew me off once without even letting me know in advance. Agreed upon a new date two weeks later and then she cancelled that date too. Both times I think she had better offers pop up, but I don't know for sure.

It just seems to me that there's far too many ladies that piss and moan when this stuff happens to them, but they have no problem doing it to clients.  Call it supply/demand, non regulated industry, or what have you, but I just think it's a character flaw of the person your dealing with.

Bottom line...move on to another lady. Don't bother re booking with the same lady even if she promises to make it up to you ( I know I wish I didn't!).  Her actions are indicative of the kind of person she is...you don't want to spend a cruise with someone who has no problem steppin on you like that.

That NO ONE her thinks that this is OK behavior.  I am frankly pissed that someone has done that and I also think that this merits a review stating the details.  Perhaps it even merits her name mentioned here.  Damn, that is awful!

I posted a review of a provider in Dallas that stood me up for a session made for a trip I took. I felt that others should know.  I wondered at the time if it would be accepted as a review and was pleased to see that the TRE floks thought enough of the benefit to fellow hobbiests to let the review post.

I agree that this is bad biz practice. However were you going on vacation as friends or as a client & provider. I think it is wrong either way to cancel on a friend or client, however the part where she took the other vacation because more money or because she was going to be making money?
We all need vacations however some of us can not afford to take them. I am not saying she is right in doing this I would just like to know the other side of the story before I stick her to the cross.

Just to answer Mara's question the trip was as a client and provider relationship. She did offer to give me a substantial discount if I would pick a date in May. I politely refused and told her that if I ran my business the way that she is hers that I would be in bankruptcy. I don't feel that it is necessary to mention her name as if she continues to run her business this way her career will be a very short one. Turns out that I found another lovely provider to go in her place and just from talking with her we are going to have a dynamite of a time.

I'm in a service industry where a call for a higher paying job can easily come two minutes after agreeing for a lesser. Many a time I've bit the bullit but in turn edified my integrity. You can't take it to the bank but it ultimately increases your worth.

I think it's bad for business too, and cancelations as such should be avoided at all costs.  I guess it depends on why she cancelled the trip.  I've only had to cancel one big trip in my life, but I had major allergies with asmatic symptoms.  Was not cool. Weasing, etc. . .Yuck!  Funny thing is that I thought I had antrax.  Get the facts, and if she doesn't have a good verifiable reason give her the boot for some fresh companionship.

Hope you have a great time with girl #2.  No excuse for the first one's actions, IMHO.  It would be like you telling her she's out because you decided to take a prettier Provider on the cruise.  How would she like that?  Rude is rude and a deal's a deal.

EZ if I would have had a grudge to settle with this provider I would have mentioned her name. As you can see there is no mention of her name. I asked a simple question and got back straight answers. It seems to me that if I had something to gain I would have posted her name. Perhaps you need to invest in a little reading instruction.

The only ones who assume all Providers have no honor or integrity are ignorant pinheads.
