I figured out why the CHP is cracking down so hard on DUIs. They can't possibly be writing many speeding tickets since the average speed on the freeway is 12mph. This has to be cutting in on their usual revenue and since government greed hasn't lessened any their jack-booted army of Citizen Harassment Patrol needs to plunder a different demographic.

and one of the greatest cash cows to fall into the judiciaries/municipalities/insurance companies laps. There isn't a bar or restaurant that doesn't have a "parking" field encouraging you to drive there. A .08 BA(blood-alcohol) level works out to 2 beers or a glass and a half of wine or one good martini. If you have gone through their pocket picking process once then for the next 7 years you cant so much as have .01 "BA" level and they'll regard it as a 2nd offense DUI. Do some innocents pay a horrible price for intoxicated drivers? They sure do but our society is bombarded with mixed messages and abstruse information. The CHP and Police are the arm-breakers government hires to capitalize and exploit from said conflicting messages and information. As much as they say it's about the human toll the truth is "It's All About the Money"
There are many factors to determining BA level. Such as weight, type of drink and how many hours you've been at it -http://www.ou.edu/oupd/bac.htm. If your stupid enough to get drunk or have enough drinks to impair your driving you deserve what you get. I was hit by a drunk that put me in the hospital for 3 months, in which I almost died twice. If the laws in CT were that strict I doubt my accident ever would have happened. CA did what a lot of states should do to control drinking and driving. The drunk that hit me had a DWI two weeks before and was driving on a permit that allows you to go back and forth to work only. Over the following 2 years after my accident he got two more DWIs' all four had a BA level of .22-.26. As far as it's all about the money - States spend far more trying to catch drunks then they take in. Oh by the way I know 9 people they were hit by drunks - 2 died.
I do not give a flying rats ass what people think, and mixed messages, etc. Driving under the influence is dangerous and can cause horror for innocent people. If you get behind the wheel while intoxicated, you are a danger to yourself (I do not care about you though), and are a danger to me and everybody else also. Do not give me the BS that it is purely a revenue move. I do not care about the supposed "mixed" messages that private companies spread. They are merely selling a product.
Get a fucking designated driver you assholes who insist on drinking and endangering me and everybody around. As much as you think you can operate a vehicle safely, you simply cannot.
OTOH overzealous enforcement of speed laws in areas where roads are designed to be travelled at much higher rates is purely a revenue ploy. There are areas in my area which are high enforcement areas with very low speed limits (much lower than what is truely a safe speed, that are purely revenue traps.
Most new cars are designed to travel at a much higher rate of speed than 55 or 65, and most highway roads are designed for speeds much higher than 55 or 65.
