Actually I have never considered seeing hookers a "bad habit" I needed to quit, so I have never considered it a habit on which to go "cold turkey" from anymore than I would go "cold turkey" from any other past time I found enjoyable. It would be like going "cold turkey" from enjoying a glass (bottle) of wine with dinner.

with a woman other than my wife.  She was very jealous and very very sexual and I stopped because of her for years.  Unfortunately it became clear to me that I would never be able to leave my wife and kids and grandkids etc and the relationship was very unfair to her and making her very unhappy. I couldn't go on being that unfair to her so I broke it off and went back to hobbying.  
Who knows what would have happened if we had gotten married.

Cold Turkey - I like it!

I have had multiple breaks from this industry but always gravitated back. I travelled for 2 years at 25 and didn't do it, then had a daughter and got married and had a 5 year break, then qualified as a shrink and had a 3 year break.
I've been back in the industry part time for the last 3 years and it's better than ever this time. I reckon I have another couple of good years left in it then I'll move on to the next phase of life.
I've loved the flexibility of this work, the great gents and ladies I've had the privilege of meeting, the travel I've been able to do and the part time hours I've been able to work while pursuing other interests. It's an addictive job!!

I promised to stop.

That lasted about 2 weeks.

It's a good thing I don't smoke or drink heavily

I'll occasionally decide to cut back just because I'm spending too much time hobbying instead of my more mainstream hobbies, but it's been a few years since I went more than 4-5 weeks without P4P. This from a typical once a week habit.

But your phrase of trying to go cold turkey implies someone TRYING to quit. I certainly have never tried to quit and have no intention of quitting. My frequency of hobbying or not hobbying is related to other factors such as finances, time, availability of providers, and what else is going on in my life.  

I believe Mark Twain talked about going cold turkey with regard to smoking.  I think his exact words were: "Quitting smoking is easy.  I have done it a thousand times"...probably the same could be said about hobbying!

Then the marital sex got less frequent and I was working nights so I started frequenting strip bars again (during the day while she was at work.) Which led to lap dances and frustration to AMPs again and then... boom... back in full swing seeing providers once a month ever since, at first it was BP gals and daytime strippers hooking on the side.  Then in 2012 joined TER, lurked a while, then jumped in w both feet.
