So I am waiting at this really nice resort for her to text me the room # and by this time she is already 40 minutes late. I am use to girls running a little behind sometimes but 40 minutes is a bit past I need just a little more time and I do get a bit uneasy having to hang trying to look like I am not waiting to see a high end escort or something.

As I am sitting there this girl walks by who is attractive and I am thinking could this be the girl I am waiting to see but I am not sure as she does blur her face in her pics and was a lot more causally dressed than in her pics. She walked by me twice giving me a smile and then about 15 minutes later I get a text giving me the room # and sure enough it was her.

Awhile into our get to know each other convo she asks me about some identifying marks I tell girls about so that they know it is really me when I see them but keep hidden underneath my clothing and that is when I mentioned we smiled at one another outside. She said she did come out looking for me but did not really mention why and I did not want to press it so as to not possibly ruin the mood and just kind of dropped it.

I was not sure how to feel about it then or now but do find it odd coming from a very high end provider who has some experince and a little bit annoyed she kept me waiting even longer to do it. I have had a lot of girls come get me and bring me to their room but this was not the case so just wondering if you have ever had this happen to you and if so did it bother you?

However, what you might have done is tell her what you were wearing, like a particular colored shirt, or type/color of hat, etc.  This would allow her to identify you easily if that's what she needed to do.  IMHO, it would have been more appropriate for her to tell you she was going to check you out in some fashion.  Her behavior to me is somewhat irregular.

I arrived at the complex and she was giving me directions over the phone to find her building. At one point she had me stop and asked "is that you in the Ford Escort"? I said yes and she hung up!

But seriously, I'd never wait more than 10 minutes or so without moving to an inconspicuous location. I wonder how she knew who she was looking for unless you told her where you were waiting.

Back in the 70s and 80s when brothels were common in New York City and cell phone were non existent, it was routine that you would directed to call from a pay phone to get the location.  The pay phone was in view of the brothel and if they liked what they saw you would get in.  Things have really changed

And check you out before seeing you.  Some might be screening to make sure you aren't a fat fuck, while some want to make sure you aren't with LE.  One lady had me walk through a hotel parking lot to make sure I was alone.  When I asked her later why, it turns out the 'date' before turned out to be a 'double' instead of a single.  My walk of shame put her at ease and led to a great time so no regrets.

this was a huge resort but she did ask me to go to the convenience store to get some condoms which I guess would have put me in that area where she came by.

I always give the girls my age,height,and weight but I would never say what I was wearing unless she was to ask possibly beforehand and I look a lot younger than the girls seem to expect.

Again the identifiers I give are only to be seen once we are alone (naked) so not sure how she thought she was going to know it was me with so many others around?

...and both told me about it after our session. I thought it was funny that each one thought that it might be me waiting in the hotel lobby, but they weren't 100% sure. I, of course, assumed that every pretty woman who walked past me was my provider, and I was wrong on every guess, lol.

A provider directed me to an address across the street from her actual incall location. She was looking out the window, saw me calling from across the street, and came out to get me when she saw me.  

It turned out that she wanted to make sure that I was not black. I have no idea why she could not just ask me if I was black when we spoke on the phone, and I would have thought that my very whitebread speech would have suggested that I was not black. Perhaps she was afraid of being politically incorrect by putting "no black guys" in her ad or even asking about clients' ethnicity.

I have heard stories of black guys getting turned away by providers when they used this technique on them.

I am all in favor for a providers protection and being discrete. I have not ever had this happen to me once. I will not give info to a provider on what I am wearing unless it's to meat in public to give her the considerations. As for being on time which almost all providers are, after 15 minutes I would text and if no reply move on. Just my personal opinion.

it was SOP to be directed to a phone and to call the provider from it.  She invariably would have an apartment with a window that looked out on that phone.

 
I might have been checked out while waiting in a lobby or two, but I am not specifically aware of it.   I once checked out a provider as I waiting in a lobby and saw her check-in.  Of course I had the advantage of knowing what she looked like, but it was inadvertent.

once I arrive at a provider's incall and make contact with her by text, if I don't get a response in a few minutes I will call her. If it goes to VM, my timer starts and after about 10 minutes it is on to plan B. My opportunities to hobby are slim so I can't waste my chances on a provider who does not value my time.

My commute to a session is usually 30 minutes each way.  So an at the door no-reply is at least an investment of an hour already.   I'm a little more willing to risk a longer wait -- 30 minutes.   I did that a month or so ago.  Just about getting ready to call it a day when she responded.  We had the session.  She didn't say what the delay was, but from her behavior during the session I am pretty sure she'd fallen asleep.

Nothing high end about someone that keeps you waiting for 40 mins and asks YOU to bring the condoms. I wouldn't waste time trying to figure this out and just put it down to experience and avoid!

checked me out in some way, not always on the first meeting.  Observing from a window is most common...    
The ones I remember:
One gave directions around the block only to park opposite where I started... to be sure i was alone.  
Another said I can't see you... I called from the opposite end of the parking.  Returning from the coffee shop (killing time because I was early & didn't want to sit in the car that long.)  
Another gave me a bogus address... between to opposite side buildings.  As I was trying to figure it out, she emerged behind me.
