Ok.  I am an off-and-on VIP.  I'll submit a review, take the free time, then settle for non VIP until I have something else to contribute.

As such, I am often limited to the "general details" of the review.  For this piece of a review, TER asks for:

"...broader comments about the provider and your experience. At this point, do not mention specific acts or price - just give the members a tease."

However, nearly every review gives a lead in up to the greeting at the door.  For example, the following is from an actual review:

I contacted *** by email and we connected by phone the next day we set a time 2 days later at a nearby hotel. Limited screening and she was very friendly on the phone. I arrived at the hotel, called and got the number for the room and the door opened right after I knocked .....

WTF?  How is this helpful at all?

For my own reviews, I try to provide what the site is asking for, and what those of us without current VIP would like.  From my most recent:

"...Overall, I got the 'last appointment in a long day' feeling, which stinks due to the price and the annoyance of Dupont Circle."

Anyone else getting tired of poorly written, uninformative general details?

Who cares!  Guys care about the juicy details.

What the site is asking for?!?  Umm, they could click the link and find out for themselves.

... particularly if it's gal I've wanted to see for a long time, or I somehow screwed up getting to the right place at the right time.

I figure that if I can't afford a lousy twenty bucks for VIP, then I probably shouldn't be hobbying. I don't wnat to sound like a shill for TER, but saving yourself from just one bad session will more than pay your VIP for an entire year.

TER is a "for profit" venture. Why would they want to encourage ways to circumvent their own system, and by doing so cut their own revenue.

My advice is, suck it up and fork over the twenty bucks.

Yes you echoed my thoughts. I consider it a donation to keep the site running, even if I'm not looking at VIP reviews, or have seen all of the ones already up.

Being that I've ran websites for free in the past, if I use something and can donate I usually do

Well said GAGambler.  Shocking that people will spend $200-500 an hour but won't spend $20.00 month to protect themselves.

The general comments should at the very least tell the reader what your overall impression of the provider was (although you could argue that the numerical ratings already suffice for that.)

Be that as it may, I, for one, will endeavor to take your advice to heart.

There are thousands of clients who come to TER to lurk and sample prior to making the commitment to pony up the double sawbuck per month for the VIP.  Anything that raises the overall quality of the site will only enhance that process.

here, take a look at this guy's reviews and style.

he's not spendingtime with VIPs but he tells you what type of session he's had

You can blame us for poor "general details", but you can only blame yourself if you have a bad experience because you didn't have a VIP membership. I'm just sayin...

Your point is well taken, but most of us are not writers by profession. I don't think it is particularly easy to write an articulate, informative review, let alone tell a good story in the general details.

I read reviews to get a sense of how the provider made the hobbyist feel, and the few sentences that the general details allow don't give the reader much of a sense of that feeling (and probably can't, even in the best reviews.)

So the above suggestions to purchase VIP status are probably the wisest course.

Get too specific in the general details section and it won't get posted. Pay for VIP and enjoy the titillation of the review. Some are quite good.

CM - don't be penny wise and dollar foolish.  I see your last outing was a 2Fer.  It is difficult to believe that you would not see the value of the VIP membership as you said you have had it on and off.

When you consider how TER has changed the reality of hobbying I would say that they could triple their fee and maintain more than 80% of the VIP membership.  We should all be thanking our lucky stars that we have this resource to not only  keep us safe but also make it much more enjoyable.

However, I always try to include whether or not I recommend and/or will repeat in the General section.  However, w/o being able to read the gory details, that may not be a big help for non-VIPers.

Thanks for the feedback, all.

FYI, I have not needed to purchase VIP due to the reviews I have submitted.  When I am on the serious lookout for something new, I have had a recent encounter I could share to provide me with the VIP benefits.

TER offers 2 forms of 'payment' to get VIP, and I choose the 'content submission' option. There are many reason for this, and mostly not economical.  Privacy and the protection of my accounts is the main reason.  It's the same reason why I trudge to the store to buy a top-off card for my burner when I need more minutes.  I'd rather there not be a money trail leading back to me.

Also, I an not asking for better writing.  I was only expressing my wish for the 'overall experience' the general details field is asking for. As one commenter stated, the ratings will give one a decent idea of the overall.  But I appreciate a quick sentence to that effect during those times I am just browsing without VIP.

Thanks
