I think he got fed up/bored with where the discussions on TER had been going and just started looking elsewhere for his amusements. Could also be that he's busy with what's going on with oil these days.

 
He did post a "rumors of my death are premature" response a couple of months back and sounded like his old self so don't think he is having problems or gotten sick or whatnot.
