I recently went to a meeting for a group related to this, and was pretty surprised, not at the caliber of people, they were great and intelligent, but at the overall financial status of the organization. Having a business background, I know it's hard to effect change without funds. I'd like to be involved in this group and was thinking about suggesting fundraising opportunities, but want to gauge just overall perception before suggesting a stupid idea.
Would there be interest on the men's part to attend "fun" events as long as they're discreet (similar to old school male-centric after hour corporate events)? On the ladies' part, would you participate in such an event if there was actual tangible value out of it or out of the organizationWhat kind of organization are you talking about? Would these be M&G events?
WTF are you talking about?
Sorry for the ambiguity, a non profit organization related to this "hobby", that supports providers but can also do good things for hobbyists.
Still doesn't make sense.
Providers make several hundred dollars an hour, hobbyists spend several hundred or even a few grand for a few hours of pleasure. I don't see a need being filled here.
Maybe we should start a non profit for retired polo players while we are at it?
Or, are you just an opportunist looking to make a piece of whatever monet is raised?
That may be true for some and that's great, but certainly not for the majority.
I'd rather not go into an argument to prove that for most who do it as a job, it's still not lucrative, especially when you consider agencies.
No I'm not an opportunist, I posted about a month ago wanting to find out about how to get involved and got a few recommendations of groups. I simply like to help where I can
You mean like to financially assist wannabe hobbyists who can't afford it?
Hahaha.......
Not sure how you would organize a discreet fundraiser.
Lots of people spend more than they make, including providers and sports stars.
If you are trying to help people take control of their lives in a positive way, good luck, not going to work very often.
You are better off seeking donations for a specific need from other providers if it is to be used to help one (or more) of their own. This happened in Minnesota recently, I was one of many who sent money to a provider who had a problem.
Women don't have to work for agencies, your business is very lucrative for those that can live on a budget.
Nothing wrong with wanting to help people.............good luck.
you get a clear answer. Otherwise, get ready for some random shit that will have nothing to do with what you're really asking, lol.
Sounds like you're asking if this fundraiser would be successful/unsuccessful, or worth investing time and money into if their financial status isn't in the best shape.
This organization is good or has the potential to be good and provide good things for providers. However, they have no money, so they can't afford an office, nor can they provide more support that requires money.
I'd like to bring up ideas for events to raise funds. But good events. Sexy events. All discreet of course.
Is it worth it to advocate this? Time and effort on my part to improve it?
Men support places like strip clubs, and obviously invest in this hobby, would it change if it was an event that benefitted a group like this?
How about fundraising for a worthwhile cause like soup kitchens or the ASPCA? In addition, anyone who reads your blogs would get scared away.
That's condescending considering you partake in this.
There's nothing wrong with organizations that would support providers considering the risk that's involved.
new ladies to the biz or ladies who do not want to spend the time screening, posting ads, marketing, etc.
Oh yeah I see people coming out in droves to support an illegal activity that also involves them cheating on their wives.
P12, you know he sees right through us, Why don't we both admit that we are just jealous that we didn't think of it first???
I see we have another contender for the SPOTY's lmao
I was hoping for more mature responses but Ok.
Yes it's an illegal activity, how do you think it became and remains legal in other countries? Politics and money are inter related. Aren't you curious to see what it would be like to have it be legal in your country? Simply start somewhere?
That providers or as you condescendingly attempt to call them hookers could give back more to society if they could have things like health insurance or benefits that "legitimate" freelancing or jobs offer.
Because at a 50/50 split in places where half hours are provided, $50 bucks 3 or 4 times a day and being scheduled 3-5 days a week when they have families to support isn't going to get them far.
I'm not even speaking of droves of people but isn't it messed up that guys who run hedge funds or contribute a lot to society can have their careers hurt by practicing something that other countries don't give a crap about?
Call me idealist or stupid or whatever you'd like. It was a legitimate question to see if men would care about going to an adult party that benefited a non profit just like they would if it were thrown by some escort agency
You seem to be bouncing all over the place, and even using your math $200 a day is still a lot more than the average wage earner makes.
So are you trying to create a fund to help legalize the hobby? Create a charity for "hookers in need"?, or simply raise a blind pool of money for "Whatever the fuck you decide to do with it"???
If you want to be taken seriously, then speak like someone who has a clue as to what they are trying to accomplish. No one is going to want to donate to a non profit if they aren't clear as to what that non profit is going to do with their money. Ambiguity is not your friend.
No no no, I'm not trying to create anything, the organization is already in place, it's a national organization for sex workers. They have limited funds and I don't understand why, when there's so much cool sexy stuff they could be doing. So my point, yes I'm sorry if I was ambiguous, is simply would cool sexy underground events be enticing knowing it's for this as opposed to, let's say, a private business or escort agency.
It's not just about what they do now, it's about what they could possibly do if they had money, right now it's peer support, a tiny community, but it could be more, it could be involvement in politics, it could be a union through which services like health insurance could be obtained by providers, all so that the hobby can be safer and no it's not just about asking for donations, it will be about you getting something in return with cool events
and link would be helpful. and then we might not have to be so hypothetical in giving our answers.
I think I speak for many when I say that I am a bit skeptical where in comes to non profits, some times they are anything but "non profit" I would be rather loathe to give a penny until I was a little more clear as to who the non profit was/is and what they not only stand for, but what they actually do with any monies raised, besides lining the fund raisers pockets of course.
The website is so old, due to funds. They have local chapters as well
And also explained a little more about what kind of "events" you are talking about, this whole thread might have gone in a different direction!
and now that she has FINALLY made herself clear, she links us to a site that has already made many posts on TER.
I would suggest to the OP that she abandon this thread, give it a few days, and then start all over again, but next time get right to the point.
I will also make this observation, the non profit that she is touting is not much clearer in their mission, use of funds, etc than the OP herself. While I might agree with them in priciple, nothing I have seen out of them has prompted me to break out my checkbook. BUT if someone with a clear cut mission, and a viable game plan to acheive it where to surface, I would be willing to write a check to help "fight the good fight" Unfortunately this organization looks too scattered to be of any real help to anybody, and I would rather simply give my money to some hooker in need than donate to this particular organization.
Dude, what is it with the hostility, it's a discussion board, lighten up. Did I waste your time? Because clearly it's voluntary to read these things.
Do you see me asking you for money right now? Am I pleading with you to take out your checkbook? It's simply a thread. Why do you get so worked up about it.
I'm pretty new at posting so forgive me oh dear master for making mistakes along the communication way, I'm sure I'm the first nor last to do so.
You've completely blown any chance you might have had to get a serious response to your thread. You have no chance of putting this thread on track. I won't even say "getting back on track" because there never was any track to begin with.
Let me repeat my advice. Don't blame your audience for your own bad performance, learn from it. Wait a day or two and try again, but next time make yourself clear from the beginning. I will be the first to admit that this is a tough crowd, but if you put your thoughts out there in a clear and concise manner you might be surprised on how different your reception will be.
Your original post wasn't the worst thing in the world. That said, if you go back and read it (and the few you wrote after it) I think you'll have to admit you were unclear as hell and it took far too long for you to clarify something you could have (and should have) just said straight out. This board can be merciless with that kind of posting.
And don't let Gambler get you down. He's really a pussycat disguised as a complete and utter swine. And he's quite proud of it. LMAO!
a HYPOTHETICAL event idea to gauge whether it's a potentially hot scenario.
and please remember not to be too vague or ambiguous about what you are asking, just put it out there and see what the reaction is. If we think it's dumb, Well you already know we are not a bashful crowd. but if you have a clear concise view of what you want to accomplish and can articulate it clearly as well, this should be the best audience I can think of to pitch this type of idea, afterall we are a bunch of hookers and johns, who else could have a better reason to get behind something like this if it makes sense?
Are you talking about The Sex Workers project or an organization like it?
So it would be like NORML, where LE could get a leg up and target members, because anyone who supports NORML must be a dopefiend, right?

What a classic train wreck that was. I think that thread was later removed, but I was really ROTF.
Her idea certainly qualifies her. She's in contention.
That will put more funds in my pocket so I can hobby more.
stickers on your rear view mirror to qualify. Maybe even a senior citizen card. I am sure there will be an application process.
And that is because you continue to be obscure in the face of legitimate concerns and what little you do explain is, in fact, stupid, which is why many of the posts are sarcastic. Somewhere along the line you stated this would help us guys also. Really? How would that work. A grant I could apply for that would support my patronizing prostitutes. Oops, I was sarcastic. You need a reality adjustment. Besides you aren't even a real prostitute. Just a sex addict that found a better way than trolling bars for a variety of experiences. Make a little money too while you are at it too. Not a bad idea by the way. And by your own admission it is working.
But why shouldn't I want to do something more? Are the people trying to legalize weed stupid for wanting that, they believe people should have a right to smoke if they want to. Or gay marriage advocates? Maybe having sex with whoever you want even if it's quid pro quo should be your right as well
Why didn't you just fucking come out and say so!
McDonalds does not give you a 'Business Background" ! Are u from jersey too ? And thats a big NO to attending some hotel get rich quick seminar ! Look , go to the gym the benefits are priceless !
Yikes what next !

I'm not really knowledgeable about this, but here goes:
There are already a number of organizations that promote the interests of sex workers. COYOTE (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics) is one of the oldest and most prominent; it is an activist organization that seeks decriminalization of the hobby.
There are also organizations, I believe, that hold themselves out as promoting the interests of sex workers, but are primarily interested in eliminating prostitution.
Cossette - I think what is important here is that the organization have a clear mission and mission statement. Is its purpose to decriminalize prostitution? To financially assist sex workers in need? To provide education or social worker assistance to those who need it? To educate the public that sex work is a profession? The general goal of a not-for-profit that helps sex workers is great, but in this world, it has to have focus and a specific purpose.
The post was unintelligible. It took multiple posters hours to drag out of the OP what he was actually talking about. Although we have finally discovered WHAT he was talking about, there still is no clear understanding of the specifics he is proposing.
To COSETE I will suggest that in future you re-read your post and try to step outside of your own head; YOU understand what the post is about because you are currently thinking about the subject. Does it read in such a way that someone else could understand it completely cold? And, I would request that you never get involved with any fund raising projects for groups that I care about, because it's likely you will drive away potential donors in great numbers.
But then, I'm a "dolt," so what do I know. ![]()
