There are now small devices available that can swipe your card, contact the central computer for an authorization, and print out a receipt.

Not exactly. While cash is always an accepted form of compensation,it is not the ONLY form or way to compensate.  Especially now with merchant accounts being easier and simpler to attain than they used to be and the creation of cell phones with a credit card reader and terminal that can approve or decline the transaction on the spot!!!  Because of these recent changes, credit cards may very well soon be accepted by more and more ladies as time goes on.  Heck, I'm already considering and looking into how to make it happen.  So i definitely will be one who accepts credit cards in the very near future.
