Frankly, I am very happy with this revision.

I have never posted with an alias, and I don't know that I ever will.  Some of the cruel, cowardly posts I have seen on this board are very sad, and I am glad that TER is putting a stop to them.

.. TER has updated the Message Board policies?
I happened to notice the link changed to:
{ (**UPDATED**)Message Board Policies }

The updated part appears to be:

IMPORTANT:

While it is anticipated that vigorous debate of ideas and opinions may occur within a forum, it is expected that civility in discourse will be maintained.
Criticizing ideas and opinions is a normal process of debate and each person should expect to have ideas challenged. However, Personal attacks such as denigration of another person’s character or value have no place in such discussions

Posting personal information of other members/providers, including their emails and Private messages on public boards is ground for BANISHMENT from TER.

Posting mean and rude comments ,or links to other providers' reviews/site under a provider's AD is prohibited.

**** WARNING ****

*****Posting rude and mean comments while hiding under an ALIAS, will be reported to the moderator and the post will be modified to EXPOSE your USERNAME. Aliases are not to be abused for such purposes*****

HMMMMM.... or as Artie Johnson used to say on Laugh-In:

"Very intersting...."

I mean, why use an alias unless you are going to post something a bit outre?

I am all for civility and I never use an alias myself, but I think things might get a tad dull here if someone is unsure if they will be outted.

Well, let's see how it goes.

I have used aliases a few times, and the proposed rule wouldn't worry me a bit. I have used them to ask questions without possibly embarassing myself, and also to ask something where I didn't want a particular lady to know I was asking it, so as not to ruin a potential surprise.

While very small as a percentage of alias posts, they can be used for civil reasons. I think it is for this reason that they didn't just eliminate aliases altogether.

Of course, just my $.02.

I think the only decline of the alias posts will be those using it to be nasty, insulting, rude etc.
Most if not all of us have seen those vile threads/posts and there have been times when a few have requested the mod out the one who has posted the vile comments. Now they will be outted and when the policy becomes known to all It will, i think, stop much of the nasty stuff.

I hope i have not said anything I can be outted for here.

Thank you

You coming "out" followme?  So the truth will be told what a GIANT fan of the dark black birds you really are!  And I don't mean on a stick or in a stew.  Boy, it's great to be RIGHT.

I'll give my cousin Followme your message.

He and cheffollowme are very busy getting ready for the GIANT tailgate/BBQ this Sunday, he tells me at least 53 ravens will be BBQ'd.

Thank You

It'll be fine. Keep up the humour, very few posts are that cruel that they would be altered, just keep on keeping on.

As long as they are are used for humor, protection of user's identity for a legit reason ( such as questions about STDs, a personal problem, etc...) or any other reason other than being mean and rude to a certain member, they will not be exposed

I am all for the new policy. Aliases are for cowards.

to both the detestable way aliases were being used to shield the identity of someone posting ad hominem attacks, and our discussion of the use of aliases on the board.

And I think they got it right - even though I was in favor of banning aliases.  Disallowing the use of aliases for abusive purposes while keeping the option open where appropriate will improve this board immensely.

Thank you, TER

Gregory

I have never posted with an alias, and I don't know that I ever will.  Some of the cruel, cowardly posts I have seen on this board are very sad, and I am glad that TER is putting a stop to them.

I was looking forward to chewing someone's ass, and calling them names for no particular reason. Now I can only be the same a$$hole I've always been.

I never use an alias. I think you should be allowed to say what you want as long as it does not expose someone or reveal personal information and as long as you use your real name.

in a public venue where you are doing no harm (ie the old example of yelling fire in a crowded theater) I agree with you. However, this is private property, owned by TER, and it exists for a set of purposes, which do not rightly include using TERs bandwidth and storage space just to be rude or insulting to people who are here for the stated purposes, to attempt to denigrate the character of a member, or to cause the hobby to be held in lower esteem by those who have public access to read the boards. That latter bit is important - our conversations here show up on search engines. How do we want the public to view us as a whole? And how will this effect the future of our sport?

Is what you say the same as what TER said:

"Personal attacks such as denigration of another person’s character or value "

"As long as they are are used for humor, protection of user's identity for a legit reason ( such as questions about STDs, a personal problem, etc...) or any other reason other than being mean and rude to a certain member, they will not be exposed"

Just with different wording?

the additional emphasis being on explaining that free speech does not apply on private property for one, and that the reputation of the hobby suffers when folks come across these boards and see such childish behavior.... otherwise, yes, my post reflects my understanding of the TER guideline in my own words.

by the members of those private boards ( since there is no moderator).

If they have to bottle up their Big Apple venom and can't air it here anymore?

I have a feeling that random violent street violence is going to climb in Gotham.

(JK of course, I love all the N Y bloggers and bloggetts, I really do!)

(At the same time, I should point out that if the Humor Board weren't closed for repairs, I wouldn't have had to post this tripe here.)

Perhaps this is a result of the good vibrations being given off in the universe as a result of Philip Anschutz's brainchild.

I am happy to know that ter SUPPORT and ADMINISTRATION have revamped their policy to expose the juvenile delinquents for who and what they are.
It amazes me that some individuals spend the majority of their life evil-doing.

They need to learn once and for all that this wonderful community of ours has no respect for their face-less offerings.

Setting a HIGH standard and expecting that of it's members gives The Erotic Review MORE InTeGrItY.

Thank You ter

We mean no harm to the humans.  All we ask is for a little anal probing.  Is that too much to ask?

End communication.

Awesome. I hate aliases. I mean it is really ridiculous.

And to those kind of posters who have like 5 different names, GET A LIFE! I know who many of you are & is why I didn't book. Not just on this board.

Also, love the part about not posting links to other gal's websites on our ads. Happened to me on that other board long time ago by a prominent poster & was very annoying to say the least.

I personally feel our ads should be off limits to replies.

:) Sara
