There will most likely continue to be stories written like this that show the law to be an utter failure in its goals. However, its unlikely to be repealed in Congress because, regardless of whether they're conservative or liberal nobody in Congress wants to risk political suicide by being THAT GUY that supports sex-trafficking, which is how their opponents will spin it. SCOTUS declaring it unconstitutional gets Congress off the hook, so I think that's where a fight has the best chance of success.
It's political suicide for members of either party. The MSM has done such a thorough job of controlling the narrative that the average voter, even many TER members, conflate sex trafficking with consensual sex for pay.
Any one who doesn't believe me just look at the many comments about AMP and AAMP girls. People here who SHOULD know better continue to propagate the myth that all/most Asian providers are doing this against their will. There are literally hundreds of posts right here on TER to that effect. If TER members are so easily bamboozled, what do we really expect from the general, non mongering community?
I completely agree that SCOTUS is our best hope, but it's certainly not a slam dunk. One only has to look at John Roberts majority opinion on ObamaCare. You could have knocked me over with a feather when that ruling came down.
When using the word trafficking. By definition trafficking means the sale, or trade of something illegal.
There is nothing legal about the buying and selling of sex where it has been outlawed.
Unfortunately by definition, consenting adults can be by definition human traffic.
Obviously illegal drugs, and illegal firearms are inanimate objects incapable of having a voice. The people involved in the sale and trade of these outlawed items. Are still charged with the trafficking of those items.
Where it comes to human trafficking laws, being a consenting adult is irrelevant to the matter.
