Make sure that you get your guests to sign a Form 2257 because there have been a bunch of reports of security cameras in use inside airbnbs.

I have two friends that advertise their place if that helps any. I can answer questions you may have. I wouldn't use it for hobblying though. Sometimes the owner could be there.  

Non p2p use, it's been great

We took a year off to go around the world. Used airbnb for about 150+ nights of the trip. Very pleased. The worst place was clean, comfortable, dry and safe. The place we stayed at on Santorini was amazing.  

If somebody gets off seeing me and the wife nekkid, they have serious issues.
 

I'm travelling to Europe in a few weeks and have booked all my accommodations through airbnb--nice apartments in great locations for less than comparable hotels. I would recommend it to anyone. As with TER, it's usually best to go with well-reviewed hosts.

And I'm a hobbyist.  I'd rather use hotels.

pick places that are well reviewed by legit reviewers and you can virtually eliminate negative surprises. I use it all the time, save a ton over hotels and I've never had a problem. I would not see a provider in one, though; mostly these are private residences and the people that own/rent them have neighbors that might take an interest in comings and goings, and noises, whether asked to or not.

Using Air bnb for mongering is a dumb shit idea.

They have rentals in French Rivera as well.

Found a charming apartment, well appointed, for a fraction of the cost.
