be very thankful you don't live in massachusetts today lol we had a lovely ice storm that caused many people including myself to lose power....mine is obviously back BUT many people will be w/o for several days OUCH...now if they don't get power back it will be like a shelter at my house tonight lol...this should be oh so much fun NOT...to make things worse hundreds and yes I do mean hundreds of trees have fallen across the state...all schools are closed...even one of our major malls has closed for the day...now the sun us shining but the damage is done...every part of the country has it's own issues...but at least today you can say WHEW lol
live in a warmer climate, Florida. Crismonlass, you have my sympathy, but you could not pay me enough money to live where you do. My sister lives in Rhode Island, so I imaginge she got some of that storm too.
I remember coming out one time and seeing my vehicle covered in over an inch of clear ice, all over. Took hours to get in and get the car to where it could be driven. (Not to mention trying to avoid breaking one's skull on the skating rink that was the outside.
I stay here cause I enjoy the 4 seasons, even with the challenges each brings.
I can definitley emphasize with you; I lived/worked in New Hampshire in the early 80's & endured some of the most intense winters in my life..It is definitley g-ds country but the winters were quite frustrating..I can recall one firday evening during an intense snow storm the drive home which should have been 20 mins turned into a 3 hr sojourn. The next morning I could not get out of my place because the snow had completly baracaded the front door...
It may be hot as hell in Arizona during the summer, but we live in style this time of year! I almost forget it's winter until the news tells me about ice storms up north.
I live in SF Bay area so really friggin cold here is 50 and it will be 48 tomorrow. I'm from Philly, but gone 30 years...so I'm a weenie when it comes to cold. Hate, hate, hate cold. I never could find my golf ball in that white shit.
Yes, the icy-rains in New England are among the worst. Some of the other bad storms that I can remember include the 1996 storm in Pennsylvania: 7 1/2 feet of snow fell over 3 days, bridge collapsed; 2006 storm in Iowa, police closed the highways, people stranded, no hotel rooms available.
Nasty as the wind driven, soaking rain was here last night, thankful that it was not five degrees colder, and that I live 200 miles farther south. Ice storms are the worst...will take snow over ice any day of the week!
