Fishing for a solution to the key card problem
The key card problem is a can of worms but I think I have a soluton.
.
1. Bring a spool of monofilament fishing line. I suggest 600 yards of 4 pound test.
2. Bring a Halloween "light stick" with an unusual color.
3. Communicate with your client and direct him to stand under your window ("Mine is six windows north of N th St, facing the Bizzy Building on M th Ave.. I can see a red Porsche directly across from my window."); hang the light stick in your window so he can see it and move around to be in the right place.
4. Tie up your key card in a pair of panties. Tie the panties to the loose end of the fishing line. If it's very windy, add a small weight to the panties, too.
5. Lower the panties and key card to your date, standing below. 600 yards = 1800 feet is good enough for the highest floors of most skyscrapers in Manhattan. (WTC is 1776 feet.)
6. After he grabs the lowered panties and removes what he needs, reel the line back in.

Holy Mackerel! Do you think it will work?

A few months ago, I was staying at a hotel that required card access to the elevators. I was planing on having some company come over for some fun but decided not to because of the elevators. Have any of you hobbits or providers, encounter this problem and how did you handle the situation?
Some hotels are even requiring elevator users to show their room cards to enter the elevator lobby and elevator car (mostly LV, I think). No more "slipstreaming" onto those elevators behind another guest. You will need a real key card or a real guest to get you in and up.
.
Some hotels have public access floors for restaurants and bars, conference rooms, meeting rooms, services (hotel business or security office, business services (copiers, printers), pool or sports center). It can be less awkward to meet there, instead of the lobby. "Hello, Security Office? Mind if I wait outside your office to meet up with my hostess? Great. Thanks."
.
I have previously proposed lowering your key card out the window on a long piece monofilament to your client waiting below.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your key-car'
So I might climb the el-e-va-tor

But that's another kettle of fish.

Note that some smartass replied to that with:
"If she's a spinner, you can just hoist her right up through the window. 8o)"

Staying in a hotel that requires a key to access the elevator. Lobby is smallish and could potentially bump into a co-worker while in the lobby. Looking for a discreet manor in which to pass off my room key to my lovely visitor. Considering going to the lobby upon her arrival and having her follow me up, but interested in other suggestions. Thank you in advance.
