Fiddies

Does anyone ever use all $50 bills to pay a provider’s rate? I’m usually dropping anywhere from $1-3K in an envelope. My bank’s ATM recently got rid of $100 bills. I used to just make a few quick stops in the days leading up to an appointment (stupid ATM limits am I right?) to get the funds I needed. I hate going inside a bank and withdrawing $1-2K multiple times over the course of weeks, months, for whatever I may need. Even withdrawing a larger $4-5K every few months seems sus to me. Would paying 3K in fiddies be bad form?

because that's what my ATM dispenses.  One grand is the daily limit.

If over that, I would go inside and get C notes, but I wouldn't be happy about it.

Wow! You got a real first world (high roller) problemo on your hands!  Fortunately my ATM limit is higher than my (self-imposed) single session provider limit so it’s only one trip per session for me! Also, my bank is a Big Dog (Citi) and they still deal in Hundies out on the left coast! Except on occasion when the mongers who get there first have already drained the days’ supply of Hundies! Then it’s twenties and fiddies!

be suspect, it's your money, right?

Do you answer to somebody, or you just feel guilty?

Do you think withdrawals somehow become  more suspect in person versus the ATM. Sounds more like being embarrassed or something.

As badger says, you money. You can withdraw it as you want.

Wow!!! You really got me!! I’m surprised you had the brainpower to type that response with all the ego you have surrounding your smooth grey matter. Must be difficult getting through your daily activities having to carry that massive thing around. Bravo Vincent! Bravo!

It’s my mother’s actually. She tells the children not to walk my way. Tells the children not to hear my words. What they mean. What they say. Mother.

Yes. Yes, I do. As I told Badger, it’s my mother’s money. So I have to ask her first. So yeah, it’s embarrassing. EXCUUUUUSE ME!!

Only twice have any gals asked me specifically for $50’s. They were both internationally touring gals. They wanted fiddies specifically because $100 USD notes are hands down the most counterfeited notes on the planet. Fine by me but seems like twice the amount of notes to carry around. I think cash scrutiny with TSA starts at $10K and not sure if denomination matters?

If you already have to ask you mom to make the withdrawal seems that is the bigger embarrassment that making any withdrawal in person while knowing how you plan to spend it.

Paying a $3K rate in $50 denominations is most certainty NOT in bad form.  Also, I don't think that a withdraw from your "mother" is any more "sus" whether it's from an ATM or at the counter.  Either way the amount is recorded on the bank statement and video taped.  Before I hit the strip clubs, I usually get a fifty singles from the counter with a smile.  Some clubs are charging for the exchange and/or shorting you.  My real question to you is who are you seeing for $3K?

if you have accounts at more than one bank.  There are many banks that still give you Benjamins from the ATM.  I wasn't sure if you were saying that your mom is the one that goes to the ATM for you and then you have to get the money from her, or whether you have an ATM card for her account.

Coming back from Aruba (where they have casinos), I had $15,000 with me and I declared it, telling them I got lucky at the casino.  They gave it back to me and waved me through.  The limit is $10,000 in cash if you DON'T declare it.  If you are a little over, but declare it, they may still make you fill out an IRS form, but they will not seize the funds.

So says AI: "There is no TSA cash limit for domestic travel, but for international travel, you must report currency or monetary instruments exceeding $10,000 to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) by filing FinCEN Form 105. For domestic flights, the TSA may flag large amounts of cash as suspicious and may contact law enforcement, but they cannot confiscate it unless there is evidence of a crime."

So that actually happened to me once when I first started in this business, guy came by, I didn’t collect up front and at the end of the session he pulled out stacks of rolled quarters. He was a bit rough around the edges and my first thought was that he probably robbed a laundromat or something!

OMG, this is freakin hilarious!  I have never actually had someone pay me in quarters. I did have a guy pay me in all $10s for a 1K date. He actually did own a laundromat and said that when people get change there the highest dollar amount is usually a $10, which I did not know! This was also the only time I actually had a client ask me to count the money in front of him as he wanted to make sure it was correct. If I am ever paid in quarters I will let everyone know!!! LOL

I confess that I once paid a gal in rolls of quarters, at least partially.

But it was with not only her consent, but by her own request.

She had a laundry in her building that only took quarters, and she was always short on them, so I offered to go to a bank and ended up getting about $50 worth of them for her which she very much appreciated.

I'm glad it wasn't more.   Those sucker weighed a ton.

At current prices, one measly 1 oz Krugerrand is valued at around $4100.
.
A 0.25 oz Krugerrand should be a little over $1000.

$1000 of US quarters weighs around 50 pounds.
$1000 of Krugerrands weighs less than one ounce.

I try to pay in 100s whenever possible, especially larger amounts. I definitely try to avoid paying in all 20s. I've heard of people doing that. I guess money is money?

I was meeting up with a friend to go get some dinner. He said he had stopped at the bank earlier that day to exchange a Benjamin for singles. I had to ask him, "Why?" He replied, "To tip the ladies." Irked, but not surprised, I yelled at him,
.
"You moron. I said we're going to a TAPAS BAR, not a TOPLESS BAR."

I was paid in American Eagles for an 10k overnight when the spot was around $755. I didn't understand why he was so excited to pay me that way until I had a reason watch the trends between economic issues and gold's spot.... wow. Talk about a a true gift... of awareness.... and value.
