It's a little off-topic but relevant in an odd way to our hobby.

http://www.coincidencedesign.com

Read through the whole site to get the full picture. Would you pay $80,000 to have a "coincidental meeting" with the woman of your dreams with no guarantee?

I know there are TER members willing to pay $1000 or more for one hour of sex with a woman they'll never see again (I know this because I read the reviews!). So what about this?

I can't decide if it's terribly romantic, extremely creepy or a complete waste of time and money.

Probably would have been a good idea for Robert Blake to have used used a service to check into Bonnie Lee before marrying her.

This particular one does sound pretty creepy. We're a long way from Rockford's standard "200 dollars a day plus expenses", but I would imagine something around $5K would get you all the information needed from a reputable detective agency. Probably would be a good idea for any well-to-do man or woman to check into prospective mates, for outstanding wants and warrants, bad debts, ex-spouses, children etc.

How ever did you find such a site?  It does seem like "The Game"... it seems as though it would have to be a hoax... yet one wonders...  in any case, I do not buy their assertion that the essential initial dishonest way of meeting would not have an affect on the relationship...

I think you would really have to be a loser to need something like that. If I had millions and I couldn't talk to a woman I would be in sad shape. Here is a idea: Why not NOT rush to get married, and get to know her for a few years first? Perhaps keep your wealth from her for the first year or something. Gotta be cheaper than 80g's.

Desperation knows no limits I suppose....

The problem with this...and in my judgement the spending of thousands of dollars for time / sex with someone (yes, they are related in my mind) is that some men really believe there is such a thing as the perfect woman, and they are willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money to find her, even without any sort of promise that she will stick around...after all it is just a chance meeting, right? Or...as you point out, even knowing that she is there just for the money, and that he will never see her again (unless he shells out another 3 grand for a "dinner and dessert" date).

The inability to be honest with yourself and accept your own faults is probably the largest barrier to being able to accept faults in others. If you are unwilling to look in the mirror and say "gee, I am probably not a world class stud muffin", how could one ever accept that your fate is probably to spend your romantic time with a woman who is a tad less than super model material?

Look...the vast majority of us are "average joes". Thus...it is only reasonable to expect that we will spend our time with "average janes". To spend large sums of money is a foolish attempt to fight natural selection and just wasteful.

I am not saying that a little fun periodically is a bad thing. I am saying that you have to keep it in perspective. When a guy "falls in love" with an escort, versus taking time getting to know that nice gal he sees everyday on the train to work, it is because he is only fooling himself. By the same token, when a guy who does date and meet women (at least as this particular ad implies) can't seem to meet the "right girl" and instead is willing to spend 80K for a chance meeting with "the perfect one"...what is that about except denial? Does he REALLY think that she doesn't have any faults?  Of course not...what he thinks is that she is REALLY HOT...and having more money than good sense...he is willing to pay to meet her. Same things as developing "relationships" with escorts...except a 3rd party gets rich....lol.

Of course, maybe you are not an "average joe". Maybe you are PARTICULARLY overweight / uninteresting / undesirable (note I didn't say "unattractive". Ugly guys get laid. Chicks like ugly guys. They think they are...interesting. Just ask William DaFoe). Then sorry bunky, I got bad news for you...it is time to quit living in self denial and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Invest in yourself...self improvement. A "real" course on how to socialize and meet people will cost A LOT less than a "dinner and dessert" date. So will a memebership to a gym.

80K to share an elevator with some chick.....gawd, there must be a FACTORY someplace where they make losers by the gross...

you know the rest of the saying. Why in the world would someone give someone else 80K for ANYTHING from an internet ad and the website does not have:

- A mailing address (not a P.O. Box).
- Phone number.
- Business license.

Your only form of contact is an e-mail address. I may be naive in my thinking but I generally think that most people who have attained the level of wealth to afford such a service would be smart enough to know a scam when they see it.

Anyone who has 80K to blow on such a rip off, please contact me first. I have a bridge in NY I want to sell you.

The sad part is that someone will pay for this crap. Its a shame what some lonely desperate people will do for basic companionship. Some guys with this profile make up a sub-set of the client base for escorts. It was funny because when I read the FAQ, there was the question I was thinking and that was "What happens if the lady finds out the whole thing was arranged?" Of course the people who run the site try to make it seem like the lady should be flattered you went through such lengths to meet her and fall in love. Now lady's is this what you would truly feel if some guy paid to do a background check, financial check, personality check, and stake out of you just to meet you?

I'm out!

Now hit my music!

Not as creatively morbid as the Bonzai Cat site (I adore cats, and the site but the site and its photos were so clearly faked that I didn't find it at all offensive) but a hoax nonetheless.

The link doesn't have this particular hoax yet, but I would bet it will soon.

It COULD be real. I bet there are people out there willing to pay this kind of money to meet the woman of their dreams.

I like the fact that they won't work for women, only for men, because the "psychology is different" or some such.

Yeah.  Women aren't such incredible fools.

I also like the fact that they only want to work for rich, good looking guys.  IOW, guys who probably could do Ok on their own.

And they won't work an a "target" that has already spurned approached.  In other words, anybody you've ever met.

And if you haven't identified a target yourself (and how could you, if you've already met her, she's disqualified) they will help you to "identify" one.  No doubt they've got another website elsewhere, where they are charging women a few thousand bucks for an introduction to the rich attractive man of her dreams.

Realistically, if you know even the slightest bit about your "target" than a coincidence is really easy to arrange.  I've done it.  Usually no more complicated than figuring out what hours she works and where she stops on the way home.  I've set up at least three "conicidences" for myself.  One of them actually resulted in a date.  (That one was at a supermarket in her neighborhood.  I made a point of shopping there just around the time she would normally be getting home.  Took less than a week to "bump into" her.)

I'd take the money if offered and give it my best shot.

Would I pay $80 grand for a blind date with the current woman of my dreams (today it's Liv Tyler... I watched "One Night at McCools" again last night... THAT was a car wash!)??? HELL NO!

For a chance encounter and possible "click" with no prearranged notion of how we say good-by or who's bed we sleep in I don't think I'd pay anything....
