Fake money

So I had an encounter with someone, which was very nice, and he happened to do all 100's, I usually prefer 20s but that's just a preference for convenience. The next day I still have the money and a close friend is over and I wanted to pay for his parking but I had no smaller bills so I told him to take one of the bills. It turns out it was fake and my friend was questioned as to where "he was printing them".

Fortunately, there were no problems since he's known for being a pretty upstanding person. I contacted the person and he still kept in contact with me telling me if it escalated to more of the source he would be fine telling them which bank it came from, assured me it was not done on purpose whatsoever. Everything was fine just that one bill, has anyone else encountered this problem? And ladies, are you really walking around with a pen to check fake currency?

This is happening way too much and I usually check the little line and the watermark in the bill, but those pens are great.

I've been lazy about checking the bills, but it only takes once.

Cosette1099 reads

Mine was one of the new ones. I figured it would take a little longer to figure out how to print those. But man, people are quick.

Cosette1308 reads

Well, I myself didn't really examine it. Like London said, unless someone gives you a reason to, I really don't want to deal with it. But it had the stripe, what apparently it didn't have was the numbers inside it, the black 100's that you can barely see, or at least I can't unless I concentrate on it. Apparently someone got around to doing it in NY already.

Don't know if that's possible, but the new ones are distinguished by a black stripe.  I doubt they've been counterfeited yet but I'll be the North Koreans are working on it.

If all I have are the "old" ones, she is either going to take them, or take nothing. I have better things to do than jump through endless hoops.

No offense intended to all of you Non-demanding hookers out there, just the ones who think it's ok to make paying customers jump through endless hoops in order to spend their money on them.

So you'd be ok with the company you work for paying you in dodgy money then?

GaGambler894 reads

The "old" bills in circulation are still legal tender, people pay me in them, I get them from the bank, the is nothing wrong with them. If some hookers decides that she will only accept "new" money, she won't be getting a penny from me. I have no intentions of going through every hundred dollar bill I have, culling out the old ones, just to satisfy some paranoid hooker. The same thing goes for the liquor store, my bookie(who paid me partly in new, and partly in old currency last time we settled up), or anyone else who accepts cash. I pay in legal tender, if Uncle Sam says it's legal tender, that's good enough for me.

was OK as well  LOL

And that was good enough for me as well.

Odd that the court didn't see it that way.

But I always listen to my Uncle Sam...he say's Uncle Ben (not the rice) makes women swoon.  And my Uncle Sam is never wrong.

Most often the equipment still works the same.  It's all for esthetics.

I would like to use that pen thing on the gals to see if it's real however...indelible markers?

I see some potential If we could invent that pen!

1) "the company you work for" to GaGambler.
2) that you think older bills are "dodgy money"

If someone gave me a $100 and wanted change.

Actually...I'd be super happy because then I could pretend not to have any change :-D

I worked as a bartender @ LOVE in D.C.
They would bleach lower denominations
And use a printer to put the $100.00 bill on the paper
I used a magnifying glass to check the USA 100 strip in the bill
No strip, I wouldn't take the money

Unless his so called bank is the Pawn Shop around the corner. Banks scan every single bill. When you deposit $100 or $20, the will put it under a ultra violet scanner.

If it goes further and someone tell you a bank name, you will be in more trouble.

Not sure about that, I got a bad 100 from a bank not that long ago.
Not one of the new ones , but a bad bill .

It must be one of those corner banks. Next you are going to tell Federal Reserve is delivering forged $ to the banks

when you use absolute terms like "impossible".. Its very much possible to get it from bank, although rare.  I know people who have got fake $50 from banks.

There were bank robbers also then.

I still stand by my statement. In the last 3 years, technology banks and Federal reserve use to identify fake bills has improved 100 fold.

I deposit cash at my bank all the time.  I never saw them scan anything under a UV light or anything else, it would take too long.  All they do is count the money at a very fast speed, then they stick it in a drawer.  If they got fakes that way, then the next guy who wants to withdraw money will get fakes from the bank.

I have seen fake $50s before, my counterfeit detector pen caught them.  When I looked at those bills more closely, they didn't have that ribbon in it that you can see when you hold it up to the light.  They also didn't have the watermark.  Aside from that, they looked legit.

So now whenever I accept cash from people, I always fan it out on a table, and swipe the pen across all the bills at once, right in front of the person who handed them to me.

Nobody has ever said anything like "what... you don't trust me?"  or anything like that, and if they did, I would reply "it is not you that I trust, it is the pen that I trust."

Scanners are built into the drawers hence you don’t see it. Next you are going to tell me you got fake bills from a bank ATM.

I am saying bank atm because flimsy ATM’s in Joe Bloes store is privately owned by Guido the master.

Actually, no I am not going to tell you that I got fake bills from an ATM.  You must have me confused with someone else.

trying to pass fake counterfeit money. A lot of questions might be headed your way.

Sooo...YouWanna1074 reads

Just a heads up, a new trend in fake money is to bleach a one dollar bill, and reprint it. So now the pens don't even work 100% of the time anymore.

It's ridiculous that a stripper can press charges for a guy skipping out on a lap dance, but no one cares about hundreds upon hundreds of fraudulent dollars and something that seems best described as borderline date rape. Yeah, I told you to come along, but without the money, 99% wouldnt have my consent

Cosette1177 reads

Wow, that's a very interesting point...that would be borderline rape since consent would change. Never thought about it in that context.

"Sexual assault occurs when a person is forced, coerced or tricked into sexual acts against their will or without their consent, or if a child or young person under 18 is exposed to sexual activities." - NSW Gov't

A couple fun facts
Interesting fact… sexual insults constitutes sexual abuse. ;) So any man/woman who walks through your door and insults you about your performance or body parts to your face is being sexually abusive.

Any man/woman who tries to pressure you to skip the condoms
Sexually abuse

Any man/woman who threatens into unwanted sexual activity
Sexual abuse. (I wonder if revised reviews count.)

Any man/woman who continues to do something after you've asked them not to
Sexual abuse

How many guys/ladies have had this stuff happen?

I highly respect guys who responds to the touch of my hands lifting their face away from my coochie when I'm done with the DATY part.

WAY off subject; however, really you were robbed.

Cosette, how did you feel physically/sexually after you found out that money was fake?

back in 09, and yes several of my lady friends carried the pen around. There was one guy using Santa Claus money, but had they checked the donation FIRST, that would not have been an issue. I've never counted the money in front of someone, but if I am a bit leary as to a guy's motives, I will peek at in when he has no clue. This is why most providers want the donation IN THE BATHROOM... we go change, freshen up, and make sure all is good before we wear ourselves out fkin a guy for nothing.

And yes, fake money can come from an ATM. If someone deposits money that is fake, it is very likely it will be taken out before the dude on the truck comes clean it out for the day, and they check the bills. Getting fake money from a teller, OTOH, not very likely at all.

Cosette953 reads

Thanks, yours and joeforyou's response were helpful in that I don't believe this person did it on purpose. He stayed in contact throughout, I don't think he lied about getting it from an ATM, and it was only that one, so that's a whole got to just stiff someone out of $100.

HaveAGoodTime1170 reads

Sounds real fishy to me. But hey, you're in NYC, maybe they have some ATMs for the Wall Street boys that only spew $50 & $100 bills.

Cosette1359 reads

Really? Yeah there's lots of ATM's with hundreds, especially if out of a bank branch. I hate it when it happens, but it does happen.

I know a couple of ATMs in manhattan that give 50s and 100s they tend to be in very busy locations, like penn station and grand central station

GaGambler1293 reads

I have seen many ATM's that dispense 100's, they are not the norm, but they do exist and not just in NYC

Ok, maybe, maybe not but I made ya look.

Why are you still wishing ill will on me dammit ;) Not very nice. Santa won't be visiting you this year like many on these boards I think. But he will be visiting moi ;)

Happy holiday back BIB. Try to keep my name in the 'nice' bin will ya. Geezk

i had this happen to me it was a couple of 20's and when i tried to deposit them into the atm machine they kept spitting back out at me so i went inside the bank and they told me it was fake and took it.  they said that it was one of the best fakes they had ever seen.  two days later a secret service agent called me and started grilling me about the money and where i got it and obviously i could not tell him how i got it so i played dumb and said i got it as change somewhere.

Cosette990 reads

secret service agents questioning my innocent friend, just doesn't sound good.

And if so, what was his response?

Anyone could unknowingly pass a fake bill, especially if it is of high quality.

I've never had any interest in checking the bills I get from the ATM, but after reading this thread I think I ought to start doing so.

fake bills of 20, 50, 100 comes and goes. It is always one denomination at a time. When it comes, you see every store clerk checking with pens, ultraviolet light, etc. Then the circulation stops, checking stops.

It goes in cycles.

One can 2 to 3 times the face vale of real money in fake. Smaller fake bills are circulated more.

Since I am not as paranoid as you are....I don't tend to worry when someone wants to pay me in legal tender.

And FWIW it's generally quite easy to spot fakes  LOL

some banks deliberately put the fakes right back out...  like musical chairs...  because who ever gets caught with it takes the loss.  I'm admittedly not careful enough but I don't handle many big bills these days.

No all u have to do is take your nail and scratch the jacket part on Benjamin's jacket if it's smooth it's fake if u can "hear" for lack of a better word or you'll feel the groves then it's real. Also the paper is thinner then thin. Take your fingers wet them an try an smear anything on the bill, real money doesn't fake money... We'll u know. That's what I do. I was a manager for a circle one time and I has to count alllll the money by hand n make the deposits n I'm talking daily well over 100,000$ I counted. That's what worked for me the fastest n easies
