Some of it depends how you market it. For example, if it's called GFE, and I'm then told it costs more for DFK, BBBJ, or FIV, I'm annoyed. I'm less annoyed if she doesn't allow FIV because she doesn't like it. Girlfriends don't like certain things. But if she's upcharging for it, nope. I'm on the fence about CIM and COT since those I can see as a small upcharge if GFE. Greek I absolutely get. That said, if PSE is offerred at a higher rate, I would think these are included. NOT make the whole encounter seem transactional and cold? For me, it's a firm "NO" to all upsell attempts, followed by no tip, and I will never use that agency again. Men want a fantasy, not reality, and as soon as they start nit-picking about what is included and what isn't when GFE is clearly advertised, it will end up being not much different than a haircut, manicure or a shoe shine, which are other personal services often rife with upsells. I can only name a couple of guys here who would find a shoe-shine sexy.

While yes, itemizing/upselling everything can be immersion/fantasy-breaking, it all depends on the provider. There are some providers I'll just pay for every item I want and they'll make it a fantasy. As long as service is great and appears to be spontaneous and not heavily scripted, I don't care that much.
The principle of upselling in something like k-agency where all prices are uniform, is not something I condone, but outside of that it all depends on the provider imo. I would make some distinction among these types of offerings. A fixed menu (e.g., GFE) keeps things simple and probably meets a majority of client's wants. The a la carte approach offers a lot more flexibility and customization in the session -- but not sure it offers as much value as in a restaurant with lots of options to choose from. From a pure finance/econ perspective it does offer the business some degree of price discrimination (self-selected by the client) so can offer an incremental boost to profits. As a pure transfer, since the customer is still getting something they value more than the price is should be a bit neutral, but if customers used to get a set menu and then suddenly get a la carte pricing for all the same things they won't be happy.
I think the up-sell side, in the negative sense, falls in the later situation. As does high pressure up-sell for unrequested services (particularly when accompanied by a poor attitude if the up-sell fails). Just offering additional options can be like offering coffee or dessert after the meal is finished. For me the term "up-sell" has always had a negative connotation in this world but with an a la carte type agencies *could* be done without that type of reaction.

A la carte, on it's own is simply a list of menu options someone can choose from. Up selling would be when the customer has chosen the options wanted but then the provider keeps pushing for something more. As mentioned in the prior post, I would not call it an up-sell if a provider simply mentioned some additional options and the customer declines make no further mention, and doesn't cop and attitude about it.
A la carte implies you understand the menu options going in, as well as the price of each side order, and can select either during booking or during the meal.
Upselling suggests the provider lists one price for an hour at the table, may also have a list of services provided, but fails to disclose that some of those services are not included in the listed price.
I, for one, enjoy an a la carte experience. Both of my current regulars offer this. Sometimes I only want a massage, sometimes a bbbj, sometimes fs.
Europe is very different from USA. For starters, it's mostly legal or not prosecuted. Activities can be talked about more openly. Base activity is everything covered, and other activities will be listed either included or with a fee. It's not technically up selling, is more like ordering a burger or a car, you want extra options you ask and pay for it. A girl could still try to upsell in person but most don't since you've already discussed before the appointment.

I totally get your take on upselling too. For many, chemistry and connection are the whole point not a checklist of services with price tags. I don't know but most "meeting at a bar" fantasies usually involve a bit of flirting and fun banter at a bar.
