i have an exotic bird who squawks a lot...does that count?..
Where do you check this census?
I Don't think I've ever seen a white girl do so though.
I agree with Curly, virtually anything "non white" has most likely been labeled exotic at one time or another. I don't really know how a hood rat from Detroit could call herself "exotic" but it happens all the time. lol
Ok, now lets watch the closet racists get out their flamethrowers. lmao
called herself exotic..
She replied that she her forefathers moved here from the Caribbeans.. Although, I should say she was raised here...No Caribbean accent nothing...
Whenever I want to piss her off, I call her "African American" she usually threatens to "cut me" lol She has a Jamaican GF that I have gone out with a couple of times, my buddy (who is lilly white) and I have a good time getting both of them going that way. Testy, testy. lmao
BTW For any idiot, politically correct morons here that might not get the humor, although they are both black, neither of them are either "African" or "American" they are respectively Bahamian and Jamaican, not "African American" but dumb white Americans like to lump all black people together as one homogenous group which of course is definitely not the case.
Sino-Sicilian! So you're an SS. Does that make you a new ethnic group? Thing is, I'm also an SS: Semi-Semite. Does that make us cousins? See? Categorizing people can be fun!
-- Modified on 9/16/2013 7:43:59 PM

Truth be told, I categorize people all the time, not by race though, I find SPOTY candidates and non SPOTY candidates works much better.
Oh all right, I will confess, i rag on people about their race or color, but I do it to everyone, and to people of all races, so I guess I am an equal opportunity racist.
Some fucking bunch of assholes called "The Media Action Network for Asian Americans" got bent out of shape because the hot asian chick dressed up like a school girl. Who the fuck are those assholes anyhow? They certainly don't represent me, and I bet they don't represent you either. Fucking bunch of uptight PC pussies.
I don't normally watch sitcoms as they tend to rot the brains of anyone with extended exposure to them, but I might just watch this one just to spite the MAAAA,
they will inject racism everywhere and anywhere..More so to suit their own agenda..
These are same kind of people who later on go to become the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
I think what you are referring to is new sitcom on Fox called "Dads".. I don't watch them either. But I do watch Family Guy on Fox. Its a cartoon with all kinds of highly inappropriate humor.. But that's what it is... Humor.
I love it, in her bio her nationality is listed as "American" lol
Her parents are both from Asia, a Vietnamese Father and a Thai mother. no wonder she's hot. lol
I hate "anti defamation" groups of all kinds, almost by definition they are all huge racists themselves. I look at them like I do labor unions, Once upon a time they served a vital service to level the playing field, but now that the field is level they have outlived their usefulness and are now self serving and counter productive, just like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
Like when it became non-PC to call someone Oriental. Sheesh. And WTF is this shit about "I don't see color?" Of course you do. A person's color is the first fucking thing you see. The problem comes if you judge them as a result
I actually prefer overt racism to the sissy, sneaky kind of closet racism that the PC crowd, especially white liberals tend to exhibit. Our birdbrained friend from P&R fits that description.
I can deal with overt racism, you can see it, deal with it and in most cases overcome it. It's the cowardly, closet racists that are the worst, they will never utter an ethnic slur, but they would never dream of associating with "those people". They hide their racism in the shadows and you can't ever deal with it.
I really hate these anti defamation groups, and I inwardly groan every time I hear someone complain about some benign comment that some idiot like a Jesse Jackson or this Asian group try to turn into a racial war. I wish that more black people would reject the Al Sharptons of the world the same way that I reject these Asian PC groups, These people are the problem not the solution.
Sorry, it's not that simple.
"Orientalism" refers to a period in the 19th century when European cultures developed the concept of "The Other" - i.e. eastern cultures - via artistic depictions that portrayed the East in an unflattering, usually condescending manner. Thus, connotations surrounding the word "Orientals" are negative ones. When that word was used then, it was to express that Asians were Others, they were Different, and they were Not Like Us. Though I'm sure many people continue to use the term now with no ill intent, it still resonates the wrong way, especially in America because I, being Asian, am just as American as any white person in this country; being "Other-ized" is an unpleasant feeling. For example, would you call a black person a "negro"? Probably not. Language does not exist in a vacuum. You have to understand the context behind it before you judge why something is "non-PC.
The word simply means "eastern" and carries none of the context of the word you cited. Even the word "negro" for many years was simply the descriptive word for blacks, but because it came from a particular time was rejected. But it's still used by the United Negro College Fund, a rather large organization. And then there's "colored," which is similarly out of favor today. Except that it's used by the NAACP: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
So, in general, things are a bit more complicated in the real world.
Now on to the debate about whether the Washington Redskins should change their name to, uh, what? The Washington Native Americans? Can't call them Indians, you know, because they object to that as well.
.... A red skin potato & everyone will be happy.
Yes, I know that Oriental and Orientalism are technically two different things
However, I'm talking about association here, and why the word "Oriental" has an unpleasant aftertaste because it was often used in a patronizing matter towards those of Asian descent.
It's true that words like "Negro" are still being used in the ways you've mentioned with seemingly no ill effect, but then we're getting into the territory of *who* is "permitted" (and I use that word loosely, obviously) to use some words, and why it's uncouth for others to use the same words, i.e. reclaiming of words by minority groups which were once meant to marginalize them, thereby reassigning power etc etc etc. That, I think, is an entirely separate conversation
I do understand where you're coming from, and that it's not all about literal meanings. I used "oriental' for years, and without any derogatory intent, until informed by my daughter is was considered insulting. From my perspective, I considered that ludicrous and a classic example of political correctness run amok. But, out of respect, I don't use the term any more.
BTW, the same issue holds true for non-racial terms. For example, it is now impermissible to refer to someone with mental deficiency as "retarded." And that term was, in its day, a PC improvement on the old terms of "idiot" or "moron." And so it goes. In my view, people are just far too sensitive.
and just what's wrong with the terms "idiot" and "moron" anyhow??? I use those terms on a daily basis as well, especially when posting on the P&R board.
Speaking as a person with slanted eyes, I use the words Oriental and Asian almost interchangebly, and I almost never use the term African American, I feel that using hyphenated words to describe different "types" of Americans is divisive and I refuse to play along.
and you are right, people are far too sensitive.
BTW I rarely if ever use the term "retard" to describe someone with a true mental handicap, that policy does not extend to people who are simply stupid. The funny thing is, the person with the mental handicap won't give a fuck if you call him a retard, but his family might. I usually opt towards respecting the families feelings. Now someone like the DungBeetle, he's a retard and I don't care who is offended.
I was also called chink, jap, gook, dink, and every other asian racil slur that you can think of. (I still am at times, but now only by my friends), Oriental is hardly a slur, It might be a bit dated, the PC crowd has somehow convinced everyone that Oriental is racist, just like Negro is somehow racist, but just like Negro is simply the Spanish word for black, the Spanish word oriente simply means east. How you get racism out of that is beyond me, but maybe I have seen enough real racism in my life to not bother sweating the small stuff.
Of course since you are hot, I can call you anything you want me to, even if you are wrong about the word oriental
BTW I am a bit older than you, ok quite a bit older, I have experienced real racism in my lifetime, please do us all a favor and just enjoy the victories that my generation fought for, and don't look for hidden meanings where there are none. That's what keeps racial wars burning, and there are many people who have a vested interest in keeping the races at war with each other, Don't let the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world win.
After all, back then the Chinese in America were called "Celestials" because China referred to itself as "the Celestial Kingdom."
Now, if you're offended by foul language and ethnic slurs, be sure not to watch this compendium from "Deadwood."

Is how fucking hot Brenda Somg is.
I say she is very hot.
I think you misunderstood my meaning when I was discussing Orientalism vs. Oriental, but I clarified in an additional post (see above).
And I also never said it was a slur in the realm of chink, jap, etc, but that doesn't make the historical context behind it a positive one. I agree with you when you say it's merely dated, which is why it probably shouldn't be used in common discussion, same as "negro." The technical definitions for these words aren't the crux of the issue, it's the associations we carry with them.
And trust me, I do look at my country today with gratitude towards past generations for fighting for what I now get to enjoy, but it would be naive to suggest that just because you experienced worse in your generation, that the continued prejudices that still occur today are therefore less worth fighting against. I too have been called all those same names, and worse; this country is not post-racial by any means. I don't look for hidden meanings. If someone calls me a jap and says I should learn English or go back to my country (and yes, that has happened to me), that's not "looking for hidden meanings." That is straight up racism. And if someone uses words like "Oriental" or "negro" out of simple ignorance and not malicious intent, then I try to discuss why they are bad choices to use in conversation.
Fighting outright racism is a worthwhile endeavor, correcting people over trivial matters only serves to inure them to real racism, especially when a large percentage, myself included, don't have even the slightest issue with the term Oriental.
What happens when you nit pick over issues of political correctness is that your audience grows tired of you taking offense at the slightest perceived slight. I can't tell you how many times I have been corrected for using the term "black" usually from white people I might add. I have even had PC idiots try to tell me that my friends GF should be referred to as "African American" when she is neither from African, nor is she American, She was born in, and is still a citizen of the Bahamas, and rightfully considers herself Bahamian, but does that stop the PC police? Of course not, they are obsessed over labels, and I implore you not to do the same, save your energy for people who deserve your ire, don't waste time on people who might just be a few years behind the times. Or people like me who use the term Oriental because I don't like the PC police telling me what to call myself
if you check out Nelle's pictures, she's Pretty Damn Cute in any language. She also writes well, though I agree completely with your most recent remarks.
You really need to keep up. lol
Who is fighting a battle?
A commentor above expressed that he didn't understand why the word "Oriental" was "un-PC." I explained why it might be considered as such; I don't think that constitutes as fighting a battle. If someone a little behind on the times called me an Oriental in real life, and it was obvious they didn't mean any harm, I wouldn't say anything. However, when someone frames their comment the way the original commentor did, he is inviting a discussion on the topic.
I don't care what terms you use for yourself. However, don't make the mistake of saying "Oh, I am a part of x minority group and I don't mind the usage of such-and-such term, so therefore it must be okay." I agree that often people take political correctness above and beyond what is necessary, only to produce the completely opposite effect of what they intended (their audience becoming numb to the issue entirely), but that is different than me discussing *why* a term may or may not be offensive to some when that is the very issue being addressed
You are speaking for all of "us" when you try to argue why some people might consider the word offensive. I am pointing out that not all, or even most asians consider it offensive, and the ridiculous standards that the PC polic attempt to hold us to.
Don't believe me, In ten or twenty years I guarantee you that terms like "Asian" and "African American" will be replaced and thse terms used today will somehow be deemed offensive by the PC police of tomorrow.
Oriente is simply the Spanish word for east. Asia is in the "east" lets not make any more of than that. Some uber sensitive PC nut job got it into his/her head that it was offensive and got the rest of the lemming to follow. The other most common argument against the use of the word Oriental is that Oriental refers to property, like a rug and that Asian refers to people, What a retarded argument, but it doesn't stop people from using it. There is enough real bigotry in this world, please let's stop sweating the small stuff.
Idiot 1: So are you Indian?
Curly: Hmm... I consider myself American of Indian origin..
Idiot 1: What does that mean?
Curly: I feel America is my home country, and I'm of Indian origin..
Idiot 1: You trying to impress White folks?
Curly: No..No need to impress anyone..
Idiot 1: You know...White people don't consider you as American...
Curly: That's painting with too broad a brush.. And if a handful don't, then that's their problem...
Idiot 1: You are a reverse racist.. (Whatever that means in the context, but the term cracks me up)
Curly: You are a straight up retard..
Outside of humor between good friends, I would never lump people into a box just because they are of certain race, and on the flip side, one should not be denied to call himself American just because he is not of a certain race either.
Idiot 2: Where are you from?
GG: Originally California, but I now live in Texas.
Idiot 2: No, I mean "where are you from???"
GG: Like I said, California, I was born in San Francisco.
Idiot 2: No, I mean where are you from from?
GG: Is that your stupid way of asking me my nationality?
Idiot 2: Yes, What are you?
GG: Well if you must know my mother is Chinese and my father is Sicilian
Idiot 2: So does that mean you are half american and half asian???
GG: No I am 100% American and oh fuck this, why am I even talking to a retard like you? Please just Fuck Off before you need some new dental work!!! Fucking Moron!!!
It’s only in the past few years that “Indian” was even an ethnicity option on your TER profile. Before then, anyone born between Morocco and Mongolia was considered “Middle Eastern” by TER standards.
Indians don’t like to be called Persians. Persians don’t like to be called Arabs. Arabs don’t like to be called Turks. Turks don’t like to be called Kurds, and so on. Exotic can be a convenient shorthand.
Exotic is not an ethnicity. I hope you were just using sarcasm... I call myself exotic because, I am African and I come from a country which has tropical weather. My looks are different and unique as well as my culture and tradition.
By your definition approximately 43% of US population is exotic!
From free dictionary;
1. From another part of the world; foreign: exotic tropical plants in a greenhouse. See Synonyms at foreign.
2. Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange: "If something can be explained simply, in a familiar way, then it is best to avoid more exotic explanations" (Chet Raymo). See Synonyms at fantastic.
3. Of or involving striptease: an exotic dancer.
So a white trash girl in Paris would be considered exotic, but then again considering this country a girl from Oregon would be considered exotic in parts of Alabama
Unless they are a stripper. all strippers, not matter where they come form, look like, or what language they speak, are exotic in so long as they are stripping. Once they cease to remove their clothes in concert with music, the exoticism stops.
between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
I originally said south of the equator.

i am a Scorpio and my girl is a Leo..does that count?..

because I can wear my stripper heels for 10 hours straight and never bat an eyelash. I KNOW that counts.

But I only require that you wear them for an hour or two. And you won't be standing on them anyway. I do like your style, though.

did the Nick-a-licious actually flirt with me?
P.S. If I'm deluding myself, please don't answer my lii' questie. Tis good to live in one's own fantasy world.
Wow! How many times can I edit my own typos? Once a dork, always a dork. Pfthh!

You are not delusional. You also have a PM because this is now so far down the page I'm not sure you'll get it. But, yes, I was flirting with you. I recall we had some back-and-forth a while back and I went on your site, thought you were hot and wished you'd come to NY. Any chance?
As the measure for exotic then, all providers are exotic.

i have an exotic bird who squawks a lot...does that count?..
As an Indian woman, I'm often told I'm "exotic" and depicted as exotic in American media. The Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra and Pitbull even made a video recently called "exotic". I've attached the link below for you to watch. If an Indian celebrity like Priyanka makes a song called "exotic" and labels herself as exotic, then I'm happy to call myself exotic too!

Being "Persian" is pretty exotic, if you are not in West LA hahaha
Because I came out my own description of my look. It s a few my clients would always tell me Iook exotic. I most definetlydont have american barbie features. when I hear exotic, in escorts descriptiins they arent referencing particular ethnic decent of any kind, they have for example exotic dancers, exotic sex toy stores, when they say exotic dancer, they certainly dont mean the races of the dancers are.all from islands! : silly!
Exotic isnt a race or races. Its in marketing you always want to make everything sound enticing. Sime men love exotic features which can describe dark eyes or just a look that some men like. Theres exotic in adult marketing terms. Why dont yoy open all ads that use exotic in descriptions and figure it out. We are marketung ourself if a black girl says exotic I sure aas hell find that more enticing than black its more inviting and sexy. If I said in my ad italian croation english n irish boston mutt. Large prominent nose.
Would you call me or read rest the add?
If you cant grasp escort marketing , exotic is better way to expkain non american look. Every time I dvsay I hate my nose! Tqo clients italian guys. Both woyld answer to me no. No your exotic looking. And then theyd say thats what they like. Exotic is a description for mysterious looks . Marylyn munroe? Not exotic. Ddemi moore? Exotic.
Kendra from the old play boy bunny show girls next door not exotic.
Kim kardashian exotic
Britney spears not exotic
Paula abdul exotic
There you go. Make sense now?
We say our races seperate in our ads every single ad that uses.exotic. take note if yoy read rest.of ad they ALWAYS say thier nationalities. AFTER.
Exotic is used never like this, croatian, exotic, italian,
I s it?
No so its not a name of a race or races. Neither is it in EXOTIC DANCING .
Duh people!
It was so funny one guy wrote that I market myself as latina in a review , he mustve thought exotic refers to latina race? I always say my backgrounds.! I never said latina once !
Exotic is a look not a race. Theres the black irish , thick curly black hair they can say there exotic. I picture dark eyes dark black eye brows. Maybe a prominent nose , cats eyes thick lush lashes. Black women are totally exotic lookung alot them have these eye lashes that curl beautifully us white girls have to use eye lash curlers. Katycperry has black hair but I wouldnt describe her as exotic looking. An italian irish woman with long red curly hair and curvy thick figure. That would be exotic looking. A skinny blonde with fake tits. No matter what race she cant say shes exotic looking. If you go to angel memorial theres a section called exotics it doesnt mean asian and armenian rabbits !!!
I will also suggest that exotic can change according to what is "normal" for any particular part of the world. A Swedish blond in Thailand might be considered exotic by the locals, the same as a Southern Belle might be considered exotic in Brazil. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
I will also agree that exotic is a look not a race or ethnicity. Two women from the same country can have quite different looks, one exotic and the other rather ordinary.
Having spent some time with angel, I'd say she's definitely exotic. Pretty much everything about her is unique.
I will also agree that exotic is a look not a race or ethnicity. Two women from the same country can have quite different looks, one exotic and the other rather ordinary.
