Entertaining idea. They probably just right it up as probation and list the areas they are not allowed into as violations. Restrictive paroles and probations are not new, but I think this is an interesting idea. It has a good chance of even holding up in a court challenge.

Miami is rolling out a new plan.  Arrested hookers will have a choice between going to jail or excile.  What they mean by excile is that for a period of 6 months the person cannot enter any of 6 neighborhoods designated as target areas to reduce street prostitution.  Those that choose excile will be provided with a map indicating the areas they are not allowed and the persons picture and description will be provided to neighborhood police and watch groups.

A violation of the excile agreement is a mandatory 60 days in jail.

[added] Here's an article I just ran across with some different and probably better info.
