Much has been made of the relationship between a provider and hobbiest... most of it deals with "the line" between the fantasy world of hobbying and the "real" (whatever that is) world of civie dating....

I was 42 when I married - and before I married I went on an average of 1 date a week since I was 16 or so... that is over 2 decades of dating or about - 1300 or so civie "dates" with varying degrees of long term relationships thrown in there.... somewhere....

That may make me something of an expert on dating... I have also hobbied since about 1988 or so - so that is roughly 17 or so years of hobbying... I may have some experience there as well.....

How do I put this... my dental hygeniest is a hottie... I see her in a professional way - I would love to see her outside of cleaning my teeth... seems like it ain't gonna happen - because while she thinks my teeth are neat - she cannot get past the green body that they are attached to... lol!

The point?  Men and women meet in this hobby much as they would meet in many other settings....  one or the other may develop feelings or more accurately emotions that tie them to the other person in a more "personal" way.  That is normal.  When it is the hobbiest - he quietly goes home and fantasizes... (or at least I do), but because it is "unreal" he rarely acts on it.  When the provider develops these feelings - I really cannot comment on that which she does... I just don't know.  But, when the feeling is mutual - they may explore where this will lead - each with expectations - - - and - - baggage... Maybe her perception of him is off - or maybe his perception of her is off - or maybe both need to seek the assistance of an optomitrist.... who knows... It just doesn't work.

The parallel is in civie life, both parties go on "dates" and "try each other out."  Again, there was something there that made each of them invest the time and energy to see each other (in the hobbying it is $$ and pure sexual desire).  Both again come with their expectations of the relationship and - - - baggage...

This is not so far apart - what separates the two worlds is the expectation going in.  For her, cash up front and to be treated with respect (whatever that is).  For him, it is unquestioned that there will be sex (as CiaraPhx pointed out earlier).  Honesty?   in each situation?  You be the judge...

but with respect to the fact that in ALL of these situations we cannot escape the simple fact that it is two human beings who are meeting and greeting... sometimes stuff just happens... There are whole organizations that have tried to make rules against people developing feelings for others... (military against gay love, corporations with the no dating co-workers rules, the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation for the Protection and Preservation of Interns...).   Guess what, they ALL fail.  Why?  Cause we are all victims of the "human condition."  So, make your rules, define the boundaries... know that they will be broken and breached.  Maybe not by all, but by some.

I do not claim to know what it is that makes someone attractive to another, and even if I did, there would be cases that would defy logic (Mr. Tommie Cruise and Katie Holmes comes to mind).  But in all the combinations of people here on TER (how many providers are there and how many hobbies are there leading to how many reviews)- there will some who will find some degree of mutual attraction...   go figure... again - you want reality - get a TV show.

to have had that many dates despite you being "hue Challenged".

An interesting post.

sometimes less.... and much of that was in high school, college and grad school....  where in one week you would try to squeeze in as much fun as was humanly possible... and sometimes in my life I have had a significant other - where we would do stuff daily - counting that too....

on the 3 digits - I am barely there....  soooo it barely counts... and early on, I wasn't so, well, green!  lol.....   seriously, lots of dates were once and over... not serious things.  That still happens a lot... but you play the percentages.

As I age, I also seem to be turning odd hues.

Sort of like old cheese.

I like to think of it as being like fine aged wine.
