Is confession good for the soul? I'm guessing it must be with the rash of men coming here looking for Jesus to bless them out of the predicament they came to the boards with. For the forlorn and foolish: This is not a place for true confessions. You need a Rabbi, Priest, Pastor, Bishop, Reverend, or someone to confess your sins and shortcomings. In the last week, you guys have yet to garner sympathy or whatever you were seeking. Even the LG decided to take a pass. So let's have true confessions day once a month until all of you get it out of your systems that posting this nonsense is somehow going to save you. Then again, I think the responses are hilarious. ;)

Not only to cure the achy souls of the miserable but also to provide corrective instruction for all involved.

I can't say that all of the stories, lately, I found creditable, but if some were not totally truthful, I found there was enough content to remind myself, and others of some of the pitfalls of the hobby. Are we to come here just to talk of our victories, and how the hobby world is a place where everything goes according to plan? Is it all that easy to discriminate, when someone is telling their story to help others to not make the same mistake, versus to gain sympathy? And, so what if there may be a portion of both.

I fin it interesting that you use a religious context to support your view of limiting posts having to do with hobby failures, and I would like to point out to you, that what you are proposing, limiting one's "sins and shortcomings," to a day is much the same reason why so many churches are failing. So many people attending services have had to pretend that they have no such failings, and that they have everything going for them.

What's it to you if someone, after fucking up, gets a few kind words?

I find it quite uncanny that people don't take responsibility for their BS. Own it, carry it, deal with it. Looking for advice among the mongers of this board will get you a few kind words perhaps, but I think they are seeking something a lot more tangible than that and for the most part they don't get it. As for why churches are failing, I'd tell you that many that are in that boat lack relevance. For people who seek any god after they've been caught is also just priceless. You see, you can't play half in and half out of the hole and expect people to give you a pass. Live a different life if you want sympathy. These guys are in this "hobby" knee-deep and while it's never a good thing to wish ill on people, they are here w/o arms tied or twisted. In the last scenario, the OP married a woman who was/is an escort and to him, her biggest sin was she lied. How about if she never quit and only got tired of hiding and purposely got caught? I want this guy to be with a woman that he wants to be with, but since she values her hobby lovers more than their relationship, I ask, why would he seek redemption/salvation here? He said he loves his wife and I believe that, but I don't hold out much hope that this story ends well.

and I may well have since I didn't read all of his posts, but from the ones I did read, I didn't hear a call for redemption or salvation, nor a request for suggestions, but just a guy presenting a perspective based on his experience. Regarding your opinion of the future success of his marriage, I have no issue with, nor even your opinions of his post. I'm just reluctant to tell people not to post, based on my opinion of the relevance or underlying or hidden motivation of their posting. I'd rather have each person, reading the post, judge for themselves, and respond accordingly.

I was not seeking advice, salvation, redemption, or even pity. I was letting some of the ladies that were blasting their SO that had issues with them providing what one guy went through and why maybe they were misbehaving. I was condemning no one. I was surprised at the amount of people without knowing my wife or me was telling me I was a fool and a doormat for staying. Some of the posts was downright  venomous. But I guess that is what you get here, unlooked for advice and petty name calling.

You asked a question to an open forum, and got responses.  To expect more than that is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Some people took your side; others did not.  Perhaps you should have asked for replies only from people that saw your perspective.  You've posted here before, so you should know what to expect.

Wile I didn't ask a question or asked for replies, it is a public forum. I see your point. I am a little sensitive about  my marriage right now as I feel like I am trapped in a no win situation. I do think most of the people who posted were trying to be helpful. I am thankful for the people who wished me well. As you said many did agree with me and most who did not were trying to be helpful. I just need a thicker skin. I am sorry if I seemed a little argumentative. Breeding my posts I can see how I could come off that way.

I wouldn't want to be in your shoes, and I'm glad that I'm not.  I've been amazed over my 6 years here that we beat the shit out of each other, yet are usually there with a helping hand when needed.  I suppose that's part of what lets me allow so much fur to fly here.  Many of the ones with the most acidic tongues are the ones that are actually the kindest hearts.

The part about advice, redemption was not aimed solely at the escort-husband post. He happened to hot topic du jour and I referenced him. I think people can post what they want, I do. I just was thinking out loud, why post these stories when the history of this board is not kind to people who make poor decisions? We are all very happy we are not him and I hate that he hurts in this way, regardless of his own foibles. What I do believe is people do post for a reason. They may not explicitly ask for advice, redemption, salvation, etc., but deep down they are looking for some, one, or all of the above. If someone is having a bad day and posts about it, then they get more shitty responses, I bet that sucks. We are all human and make mistakes and we are not perfect. Things get misinterpreted all the time. What he can't do and did plenty of was to get defensive and angry when the opinions didn't conform to his POV.  When you have opened yourself up to the opinions of other people, take the soup without adding more seasoning.

thoughts, the less I find to contend with. I guess my real function is as an irritant, much like the grain of sand is an irritant to the oyster, who's response is to create a pearl. Hope I'm not getting too philosophical on ya:)

I did get defensive in my replies. I know that should have read the replies and not got angry. My first post was even a bit defensive. I was defending the reactions of other guys who SO returned to escorting even though I did not get verbally abusive like some ladies said the X did. I have reread my posts and realized my anger was not aimed at the people I responded to but at my wife. There was nothing in there replies that I have not thought about and argued with myself over. I was angry because part of me thinks they are right and I was all alone on the 4th because my wife was sleeping with other guys for money. I should have not posted on something that raw and then got all defensive when others replied with some of the same thoughts I have had. For that I do owe an apology to those I argued with. I do now that I read you post and mine and the responses I was looking for validation for my choices. This is the wrong place for that and need to grow a thicker skin if I am to continue to be with my wife as sooner or later my family will find out and there will be hell to pay. Sorry I got defensive. You are right

AEH, I don't know you and while I pounded on your post, I was not thinking of you specifically as much as why in the hell you would post it and get defensive about it. I really hesitated posting at all because I knew you were in for a pounding. I think we all hurt on some level when shit like this goes down. None of us and I mean all of us, probably don't wish you ill. Even the most mean-spirted posts like someone else stated, were not intended to hurt you, but were likely poking fun at the reasoning behind bringing this to light. I can see that your wife is a real bitch for wanting to work a holiday and not spend time with her family. I mean, unless she's got financial issues, even she can take a night away from strange cock. I hope it works out though I would not bet for it. Take care and don't drown yourself in her BS or alcohol or anything that will impair your ability to be a good father. That might be the saving grace from this whole mess.
