I think there are few things as provocative as a beautiful woman, dressed in a tasteful outfit that's tight enough to show she's a woman, but loose enough to show she's a lady.  Sitting for a few minutes chatting with a such a woman, all the while knowing what's going to happen, can be very exciting.  It's especially nice when the lady appears to finally give in to the moment and makes the first move with DFK.

One thing I DON'T care for is a sudden scamper into the bathroom to get more comfortable.  It's much nicer if the sexy lingere is under the tatseful outfit and is revealed with a seeming sense of urgency.

I like a lady fully dressed in a hot outfit, in a way that accentuates her beautifull shape underneath - showing curves and cleavage.  It's great to undress a lady while DFK_ing.  It's like undressing and exploring your high school girlfriend in the backseat of the car.  Ladies should at least have some make-up on, dress up a little - like they are expecting a date.  This can be an accasional problem for some incall providers - they don't feel like dressing up since they are not going out.

But to answer your question, you could ask your customer before the date if he has a preference.  This would tell you about him, and also allow you to please him.  Everyone's different.

Variation is the spice of life.  I have been greeted by ladies is gowns as if off to a formal evening and by ladies just in their birthday suit.  Depending on the lady, the situation, the chemistry any variation can be great.  A smile, a hug and kiss and real human warmth are the key things.

If it is someone you have had some communication with before you see them, you might try to get a feel for their preference.  If not, then whatever makes you feel best is best.  I saw a lady once who wore a nice summer dress to meet me that just looked like a million dollars, but also saw one in a casual top and comfortable pants that looked sexier than should be allowable for a human female.  Whatever makes you feel best is what will usually create the best impression in my mind.
