Either way, boy loses girl.  At that point, what difference does it make whether it's to another boy, a girl, a disease, a career, an accident, or because she realized she's into dogs?  It is what it is.  Gone is gone.  Why belabor the point?

It may be a presumption about the male ego

The idea that somehow the loser in this scenario would feel not just abandoned but emasculated if the SO left for another woman.  Not sure whether the presumption is based on myth or a Masters & Johnson study.  Either way my prescription would be the same:  Go out and get laid a lot.

I obviously have no idea who you are (which is likely key to your attack) so perhaps I ought not dignify your question and insinuation with a response... but on the off chance that it's a remotely sincere query....  

No. Rates do not confer "classiness" or make anyone better than anyone else in a human-to-human evaluation.  

Now, perhaps there's some *reason* (gasp) that the market will bear one person charging higher rates than another.  Why don't you pose the query to the audience it rightfully should be aimed at, the market in general!  Ask them why they're willing to pay one girl higher rates than another girl when "sucking dick is what it is".  After all, if they weren't paying it, you'd have nothing to complain about! ;-)

What difference does it make?

if the guy looses her, it means he doesn't want her any more. I don't know if he had her tied up in the first place or what, but either way, he "loosed" her, what does he care?

"Male ego" is about as amorphous an excuse for poor behavior as "female problems"

Both are very real, but very misused as excuses for things that would otherwise be blatantly offensive/dishonest.

But I totally dig your prescription.... Best way to get over someone is to get under someone else! (After any appropriate grieving or whatnot has been done)
